His early visit underscores the strategic importance of India-US relations, as Prime Minister Modi will be among the first foreign leaders to meet President Trump in person after the inauguration of the new administration.
Prime Minister Modi's US trip also comes on the heels of his two-day visit to France, where the Indian leader will attend the AI Action Summit from February 10-11 at the Grand Palais.
The conference will bring together global leaders, business executives, academics and civil society members to discuss advances and regulations in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
Although official information about the US visit has not been announced, analysts say the two leaders are expected to discuss trade, defense cooperation and regional security, especially in the Indo-Pacific.
During a phone call on January 21, Prime Minister Modi and President Trump reaffirmed their commitment to a “trusted” partnership, focusing on trade, energy and defense cooperation.
