The administration of US President Donald Trump has asked Congress to approve the transfer of a new weapons package worth about $1 billion to Israel.

The Wall Street Journal reported on February 3 that the weapons package includes 4,700 bombs weighing more than 450 kg each, and armored bulldozers. The information appeared after US media reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was said to have met with US President Trump and billionaire Elon Musk in Washington on February 3.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on February 2 left for the US to meet President Donald Trump to strengthen relations with Washington after tensions with the previous administration surrounding the war in the Gaza Strip. Here, the Israeli leader will participate in negotiations towards the second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza when Mr. Netanyahu meets with US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

According to The Times of Israel , Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began a meeting with special envoy Steve Witkoff on February 4. The meeting was held at the Blair House guesthouse in Washington, where Netanyahu is staying this week. Witkoff was accompanied by US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz. The ceasefire and the release of hostages in Gaza were the most important issues on the agenda between the two sides.

In another development, Israeli troops remain deployed inside some areas of Gaza during the ceasefire with Hamas. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it was "determined to fully uphold the terms of the agreement to release hostages" and "prepared for all eventualities and will continue to take all necessary actions to prevent any direct threat to the IDF." The IDF also called on Gazans to follow instructions and avoid approaching troops deployed in the area.
