The opponents in this group are all ranked lower than the Vietnamese team (currently ranked 116th on the FIFA rankings), such as Malaysia ranked 132nd in the world, Nepal ranked 175th and Laos ranked 186th.

In the remaining groups, specifically: Group A includes Tajikistan, Philippines, Maldives, Timor Leste; Group B : Lebanon, Yemen, Bhutan, Brunei; Group C : India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangladesh; Group D : Thailand, Turkmenistan, Taiwan, Sri Lanka; and Group E : Syria, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Pakistan.

In the third qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, only the six group winners will qualify for the finals, joining the 18 teams that qualified after the second qualifying round ended last June.
