Actively control the ball and the game
The basic parameters of the match between Laos and Vietnam also partly showed the difference in level between the two teams, especially our initiative. The exploitation of set pieces was also a highlight with Van Vi's beautiful goal - a goal that had the appearance of modern football. The team's new player made a perfect decision in choosing a position to protect the second line, reading the situation quickly, moving appropriately before making the right decision with a perfect instep volley in terms of technique and aesthetics.
But Indonesia is a very different opponent.
The Vietnamese team will host Indonesia on December 15 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho). We have a slight advantage as we have the second leg off and will continue to have time to analyze this formidable opponent.
Indonesia is currently second in Group B after a narrow 1-0 win over Myanmar. Although the style of play may not have really satisfied Indonesian audiences, it must be admitted that, under the guidance of veteran Korean coach Shin Tae-yong, Indonesia has maintained its progress. Indonesia's young squad will not be easily bullied. If they can defeat the visitors, Vietnam's path to the semi-finals will become "more open".
Looking back at the match against Laos, it is true that we had some bright spots in terms of expertise such as defining a relatively clear and distinct style of play and ball control. The depth of the squad was also improved when young players who were playing for the first time such as Hai Long - Van Khang - Vi Hao did a great job of creating pressure and breaking the opponent's strength, so that the veteran players such as Quang Hai, Tuan Hai, Tan Tai, Van Toan entered the field in the second half and decided the match.
