At the 19th ASIAD, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team had an impressive performance when they won the right to enter the semi-finals. Although they could not create a surprise against the Japanese team (semi-finals) and Thailand (bronze medal match), this was still a very encouraging achievement for Thanh Thuy and her teammates. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team created a turning point, entering the top 4 strongest teams at the Asian Games for the first time.
Today (October 8), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team returned home. The team was released from camp. Most of the athletes will return to their clubs to continue training for the 2023 National Women's Volleyball Championship in November. Meanwhile, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy traveled to Japan to compete for the PFU Blue Cats Club, in the National Women's Volleyball Championship of the land of cherry blossoms.
ASIAD 19 is also the last national team tournament in 2023 for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team. Since April, the "long-legged" girls of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team have gathered, trained together for many months and participated in more than 10 large and small tournaments (from the Asian Club Championship, SEA Games 32, Asian Championship, ASIAD...).
However, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet will soon be able to meet his students again. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will also participate in the 2023 Women's Club World Championship taking place in China from December 13 to 17. Previously, Thanh Thuy and her teammates, known as Sport Center 1, won the championship at the 2023 Asian Club Championship held in Vinh Phuc in April, thus earning a ticket to the world tournament.
Thus, the players of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will only be apart for about a month, before reuniting to participate in the 2023 World Club Championship in China. However, whether coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team will have the service of the excellent hitter Thanh Thuy or not is still a question mark. This depends on the decision of the PFU Blue Cats Club. Before the 19th ASIAD took place, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team had determined that they would not have this 1.93 m tall main attacker. But at the last minute, the Vietnamese side successfully convinced the Japanese team to release him, so Thanh Thuy could participate in the 19th Asian Games.
