The farewell ceremony for the Vietnam People's Army delegation took place at 2:15 p.m. on March 30 at Noi Bai International Airport, chaired by Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, and Deputy Minister of National Defense.

Also attending the ceremony were: Senior Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Mr. Soe Ko Ko, Charge d'Affaires of the Myanmar Embassy in Vietnam, and leaders of a number of agencies and units.

Speaking at the farewell ceremony, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien praised the spirit of proactively overcoming difficulties and determination to carry out the tasks of all agencies and units. In particular, the Deputy Minister of National Defense praised 80 officers and professional soldiers for identifying their tasks well, promptly arranging family and work matters and completing all preparations.

Therefore, each unit and individual of the rescue force of the Vietnam People's Army has thoroughly grasped and deployed the preparation work well with high determination. In just a short time of preparation and deployment of the mission, the soldiers have determined their mindset and determination to complete the noble mission. "With a sense of responsibility, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense hope that you will complete the mission excellently. On behalf of the leadership of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, I would like to wish you to continue to promote the heroic tradition of the Vietnamese nation, the heroic Vietnam People's Army and the tradition and qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, to excellently complete the assigned tasks, with solidarity and safety".

The Vietnam People's Army force sent to support Myanmar in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake includes 80 soldiers, including the Medical Team of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering with 30 people; the Collapse Rescue Engineering Team of the Engineering Corps with 30 people; the Search and Rescue Dog Team of the Border Guard Command with 9 people and 6 service dogs; the command unit and agency have 11 people. The commander-in-chief of the force is Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response and Search and Rescue, Deputy Director of the Department of Rescue and Relief.

Speaking at the farewell ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that the Vietnamese Army's sending of forces to a friendly country to participate in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief demonstrates the Party, State and people of Vietnam's superior foreign policy and high responsibility towards the international community; at the same time, it demonstrates and affirms the prestige, sense of responsibility and capacity of the Vietnam People's Army in integration, international relations and international cooperation.

Speaking to reporters, Major General Pham Van Ty, Head of the working delegation, said: “All goods and materials for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in Myanmar have been prepared quickly and packaged safely. Notably, all 80 soldiers sent to the neighboring country are in good spirits and ready to complete their tasks to help the people of Myanmar overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.”

Information on the rescue activities, humanitarian assistance, and earthquake recovery of the Vietnam People's Army Rescue Force in Myanmar will be regularly updated by reporters of the People's Army Newspaper accompanying the delegation on the Newspaper's publications.
