Delegates attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a Great Unity house for Mr. Lam Huu Qui's family in Hung Thanh ward.
Mr. Lam Huu Qui's family has 4 members, including him, his wife, his daughter-in-law and his grandson who is in secondary school. Mr. Qui and his wife are old, have poor health and are unable to work. The family's living expenses depend on the nanny salary of their daughter-in-law, Ms. Pham Thi Kieu Diem. The family's house is degraded and there are no conditions to build or repair it. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district supported the construction of a Great Unity house for the family, with an amount of 60 million VND, drawn from the District's Fund for the Poor. The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the end of March 2025. On the occasion of the groundbreaking, the Front and organizations at all levels presented Mr. Qui's family with many meaningful gifts.
Previously, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cai Rang District coordinated with Tan Phu Ward to organize the handover of the Great Unity house to Mr. Nguyen Van Tam's family in Phu Thanh area. The house was started at the end of 2024 and completed and handed over on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025. In addition to the support amount of 50 million VND, Mr. Tam's brothers contributed about 20 million VND in working days to help the couple build a spacious house.
The family of Ms. Truong Thi Thuy Linh in Phu Thanh area, Tan Phu ward also moved into a new house at the end of 2024. Ms. Linh said that her family is near-poor, has no land for production, and her husband and wife mainly work for a living. The family's old house is temporary, with no conditions for construction or repair. With the attention of the local government and the Fatherland Front, and support of 80 million VND to build a Great Unity house, Ms. Linh said: "My husband and I are very happy, we will try to work hard to escape poverty, not letting down everyone who has cared and helped us."
In 2024 and the first 3 months of 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels in Cai Rang district mobilized support for the construction and repair of 52 Great Solidarity houses, with a total value of more than 3 billion VND. The Fronts at all levels also coordinated with member organizations to mobilize over 15,000 gifts, worth more than 6.4 billion VND to support poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households on holidays and Tet. In addition, implementing the movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses", Cai Rang district has 20 poor, near-poor, and revolutionary households considered for support in building and repairing houses (including 3 new houses and 17 repairs, with funds drawn from the local budget). According to the plan, the district strives to complete these 20 houses before April 30, 2025, in order to make achievements to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
At the same time, socio-political organizations effectively manage loan groups from the Social Policy Bank, helping union members and people borrow preferential loans to develop their family economy. Previously, the family economy of Ms. Nguyen Huyen Trang, a member of the Women's Union of Tan Phu Ward, faced many difficulties. The family only had 2 hectares of land but it was a mixed garden with little profit; her children were still young. Ms. Huyen Trang shared: "I was supported by the Women's Union to apply for a loan to renovate the garden to grow Thai jackfruit and open a grocery store at home. Currently, the jackfruit garden has a profit, the family economy is stable."
Practical support solutions implemented by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at all levels in Cai Rang district and its member organizations have contributed to helping the poor stabilize their lives and gradually escape poverty sustainably. According to Mr. Dang Van Chau, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cai Rang district, at the beginning of 2024, the district had 64 poor households. From practical support forms and efforts of families to rise up, by the end of 2024, the district had 36 households escaping poverty. In 2025, the district still had 28 poor households. The Fatherland Front at all levels continued to negotiate with member organizations to assign sponsorship and support for families to rise up through support for house building, support for business loans, job referrals, etc. At the same time, building and improving the quality of effective models, attracting union members, association members, and people to participate, contributing to increasing income and improving living standards.
