During the pursuit of the remaining suspects, the suspects used military weapons to attack the police force, causing an officer of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department to be shot and killed. The task force seized 2 guns and 1 grenade.

Quang Ninh Provincial Police coordinated with the Departments of Professional Affairs, Police of neighboring localities, functional forces and local authorities to mobilize maximum forces and means to capture the fugitives. At about 04:30 on April 18, 2025, 2 more subjects were arrested. Currently, Quang Ninh Provincial Police are continuing to investigate and expand the case.

That very night, at 11:30 p.m. on April 17, Deputy Minister of Public Security - Comrade Nguyen Van Long and the working delegation of the Ministry of Public Security; leaders of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Quang Ninh province urgently held an urgent meeting with the Provincial Police Department and the Provincial Military Command to develop a plan to capture the remaining fugitives, and at the same time direct the rapid implementation of policies and regimes for officers and soldiers who died and were injured while on duty.
