Novak Djokovic defeated Pedro Cachin 6-3, 6-3, 7-6(4) in the first round of Wimbledon 2023 on July 3.
Djokovic's winning streak in Grand Slams has now reached 22, extending from Wimbledon last year. Cachin, who excels on clay, had no trouble with Nole on grass. The Argentine won the serve and took a 2-1 lead in the first set, but still lost 3-6 after losing two service games.

The rain forced the organizers to close the roof of the Center Court after the first set. The match was interrupted for about 90 minutes, because the court was still wet in many places. Djokovic showed a relaxed mentality when he participated in drying the court with the staff. When the match resumed, Nole won the first serve game of the second set before winning this set 6-3.
Cachin played better in the third set and took Djokovic to a tie-break, before losing 4-7. Djokovic won his 29th consecutive match at Wimbledon. If counting only Centre Court, Nole has not lost in the last 10 years and won 40 consecutive matches on this court.

Djokovic had praise for Cachin, who held all his service games in the third set. The Serb's next opponent is Jordan Thompson. The Australian lost the first two sets 2-6, 2-6 to Brandon Nakashima, but won the next three sets 6-4, 7-6, 6-3. Thompson has been in fine form this grass-court season, finishing runner-up at the Hertogenbosch tournament last month.
The top seeds all advanced on the opening day of Wimbledon. Andrey Rublev beat Marc Purcell 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 while Hubert Hurkacz also eliminated Albert Ramos-Vinolas in three sets. Casper Ruud had a tougher time, losing in four sets to France's Laurent Lokoli. In the women's category, Iga Swiatek, Jessica Pegula, Daria Kasatkina and Victoria Azarenka also made it to the second round.
