Although he had planned it for a long time, when the historic May days were approaching, Mr. Tran Quang Thanh - a veteran in Hanoi and his comrades had a trip to Dien Bien. Standing next to the command bunker of the Dien Bien Phu stronghold, memories of the past flooded back, making Mr. Thanh unable to hide his emotions.

"We are veterans, feeling very honored and excited to come to this Dien Bien area. We carry in our minds many memories of our ancestors in the past and also the time we have followed until now. We also pass on to our children and grandchildren the tradition of our ancestors fighting to protect the country. Coming back to Dien Bien, although we have been there many times, today we still feel moved and emotional", Mr. Tran Quang Thanh shared.

During the journey to the historic land of Dien Bien Phu, tourists can also visit many other historical sites such as A1 Hill, Doc Lap Hill, Victory Monument, Artillery Pulling Monument, Dien Bien Phu Campaign Command Headquarters, etc. The space of heroic memories becomes even more bustling with the increasing number of visitors. In that crowd, besides veterans and the elderly, there are also many young people who are passionate about learning about history. There are visitors who have returned here many times, but there are also those who visit the historical sites for the first time. However, for them, this place leaves unforgettable impressions and emotions.

Ms. Le Thi Khanh Van, a tourist from Hanoi, shared: "This is the first time I have come to Dien Bien and also the first time I have visited the city's historical sites. First of all, I feel very happy to live in the atmosphere of these festivals. I myself also feel very proud of the traditions of the Vietnamese people."

As one of the famous destinations attracting tourists when coming to Dien Bien, the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum now preserves more than 7,000 documents and artifacts associated with the Dien Bien Phu victory. Among them, there is a Panorama painting recreating the entire Dien Bien Phu campaign, describing and depicting clearly the 56 days and nights of "digging mountains, sleeping in tunnels, eating sticky rice" of our army and people, creating a victory that has gone down in national history. This is a giant painting recreating the Dien Bien Phu campaign with many cultural values, a place to honor the historical value of the victory that resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world.

Ms. Vu Thi Tuyet Nga - Director of Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum said: "To do well in activities to attract tourists, we have also made timely innovations. Every year we research and have innovative activities of the Museum. For example, on peak holidays, in addition to integrating into the event program of the province and the department, we also take that theme and event to create experiential activities for tourists".

Dien Bien is a land blessed with majestic nature, a place where the quintessence of the Northwest region converges. In particular, the heroic Dien Bien Phu victory left behind a vivid Dien Bien Phu battlefield relic complex. Over the years, this special historical relic complex has always been cared for and protected by Dien Bien province, planning to develop into a highlight in the tourist itinerary.

Mr. Vu A Bang - Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee said: "These will be very special tourism products, associated with which, Dien Bien province has also identified in Resolution 03 on development pillars that there are 3 pillars. In which, tourism products about historical relics associated with spirituality are the link between education of traditional values and education of the cultural beauty of Vietnamese people. In which, there are specific products such as a series of activities at relic sites associated with spiritual activities, such as temples to worship heroic martyrs and panoramas reflecting the overall content of activities of the Dien Bien Phu battlefield to the young generation today and tomorrow to appreciate and cherish the traditional historical values of their predecessors".

Not only is it a place to recall memories of the glorious time of our ancestors, historical relics in Dien Bien also remind the younger generation of their sense of responsibility when living in a peaceful world that our ancestors shed so much blood to preserve. To become a tourist center of the Northwest region and the whole country, Dien Bien province needs to preserve and promote the value of cultural heritages in general and the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield relic complex in particular.

Continuous and long-term investment in the conservation and restoration of the system of relics and historical cultural spaces of Dien Bien Phu is an effective way to promote the unique tourism resources of Dien Bien province, contributing to enhancing the education of patriotism and revolutionary traditions for generations of Vietnamese people, aiming to attract more and more tourists to Dien Bien in the future.

VOV.VN - Unable to book hotel rooms and lacking air tickets from Ho Chi Minh City to Dien Bien, many travel and tourism businesses in Ho Chi Minh City have "closed the books" and stopped accepting customers booking tours to Dien Bien by plane during the upcoming April 30 and May 1 holidays.
