Bach Mai Hospital proposes to build the largest emergency center in Southeast Asia
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, the facility has received much support from the Japanese Government, such as hospital upgrading projects in 1998-2000; hospital capacity enhancement in 2000-2005; training capacity enhancement in 2006-2009, and enhancement of human resource quality in the medical examination and treatment system in 2010-2015.
At this working session with the Japanese Government delegation, the Director of Bach Mai Hospital proposed and hoped that the Japanese Government would support the construction of the largest multi-purpose emergency center in Southeast Asia in Hanoi.
Specifically, the 9-storey one-stop emergency center will provide emergency care for 600-800 patients per day. If the emergency center is built, it will become the "backbone" of the northern healthcare system, connecting with 35 provincial hospitals, 200 district hospitals, a network of private and specialized hospitals, the Hanoi 115 emergency system and other outpatient emergency units.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of Center A9, Bach Mai Hospital, the center currently treats about 300-350 emergency patients every day. Most of the patients are seriously ill and have been transferred from 35 northern provinces and Hanoi.
"All seriously ill patients are discussed and evaluated before being transferred to another hospital, thereby helping the center avoid being passive and having patients arriving in droves, making it difficult to handle.
This is possible because the A9 Emergency Center has built a network of 5,000 emergency doctors in the North and North Central regions, coordinated through social network community groups," Associate Professor Tuan informed.
