Many opinions at the discussion said that the art of reformed classical opera of Ho Chi Minh City through the talents of the two families Minh To and Huynh Long has created valuable and admirable achievements. Starting from borrowing foreign music and dance forms, People's Artist Thanh Tong researched the scientific work "From Hat Boi to Reformed Classical Opera" (1988-1989), summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of this art form; shaping the unique material for Vietnamese reformed classical opera, "separating" from Ho Quang reformed opera and Chinese plays, forming Vietnamese historical scripts such as: "The poem of the saddle", "To Hien Thanh's trial", "The Dai Viet's speech", "The misty swallow"...

In 1981, the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association organized a training course on writing Vietnamese historical scripts. After that, profound writers such as Thanh Tong, Bach Mai, Bo Bo Hoang, Buu Truyen, Thanh Bach (husband of artist Bach Le)... attracted attention and became famous. This force has produced many good scripts.
According to young author Le Nguyen Truong Giang, he has written 6 Vietnamese historical scripts and is in dire need of support to promote the scripts to audiences who love traditional opera. Sharing the same view, Mr. Huynh Anh Tuan - Director of IDECAF Drama Theater - acknowledged the need for early investment in Vietnamese historical scripts. Along with plans to support Vietnamese historical scripts, Mr. Tuan also proposed that the authorities should have a mechanism to support theater rental prices for the performance of Vietnamese historical operas.
"This support will help socialized units significantly reduce the financial burden of renting performance venues, creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese historical plays to serve the public," Mr. Huynh Anh Tuan emphasized.
