The conference was attended by leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, a number of provincial departments and branches; a number of enterprises, cooperatives, and agricultural production and business establishments in the province.

Also attending the conference were the Vietnam Tea Association, Vietnam Cinnamon Association, and Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association.

At the conference, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lao Cai province assessed the results of investment in the agricultural sector in the province. Accordingly, Lao Cai province currently has 81 investment projects in the agricultural and forestry sector, with a total registered investment capital of VND 6,697 billion. In the period of 2021 - 2023 alone, it has attracted 40 investment projects in the agricultural and rural sectors with a total capital of about VND 5,846 billion, accounting for over 87% of the total investment capital attracted to date, of which 17 projects have been approved for investment policy (9 projects are in operation and 8 projects are being implemented); 8 projects have a written consent to investment research from the Provincial People's Committee; 15 projects are being researched for investment; spread across the fields of production and processing of agricultural, livestock and forestry products.

Enterprises operating in the agricultural and forestry sector have effectively exploited the potential strengths of land and labor, invested in production in the fields of cultivation, livestock, aquaculture, forestry, and construction of processing plants... Concentrated commodity production areas have been gradually formed such as: Tea area (8,279 ha); cinnamon area (60,590 ha); medicinal herb area (4,246 ha); banana area (2,285 ha); pineapple area (2,217 ha); temperate fruit trees (4,507.5 ha); vegetables (15,000 ha)...

In addition to the achieved results, the agricultural sector still faces many difficulties and limitations such as: Land is fragmented, difficult to concentrate production; application of science and technology in agriculture is still limited; investment resources for agriculture are still low; production and consumption linkages are still unsustainable; consumption markets are not stable; few deeply processed products, mainly still preliminary processing, so the value of agricultural products is low...

In order to develop sustainable agriculture, in the coming time, the agricultural sector will continue to encourage enterprises with great potential to invest in developing key agricultural products of the province; prioritize attracting small and medium enterprises and start-ups to invest in developing products with local advantages; prioritize attracting investment projects to promote agricultural mechanization and processing and preservation of key agricultural products, aiming to improve agricultural production efficiency, reduce post-harvest losses and diversify processed agricultural products; promote the application of high technology and digital technology in all stages of the value chain...

At the conference, delegates discussed and shared the current situation, difficulties and obstacles in investing in agriculture in the province, and at the same time proposed orientation solutions, recommendations and proposals related to effective investment and production linkage policies...

At the conference, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development affirmed that it will seriously absorb the opinions and proposals of the delegates, from which it will study and coordinate with relevant agencies and localities to organize the implementation of solutions to improve the investment environment, remove difficulties, share; coordinate, create the most favorable conditions, accompany investors, enterprises, and cooperatives investing in the agricultural sector in Lao Cai throughout the process of operating in the locality.
