The success of the August Revolution in 1945 had special historical significance for the Vietnamese people, ending the exploitation of French colonialism, Japanese fascism and the feudal regime that had existed for thousands of years in our country, opening an era of independence and freedom for the Vietnamese people.

With such historical significance, the August Revolution of 1945 is one of the important topics that the National Museum of History (No. 1 Trang Tien, Phan Chu Trinh, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi) focuses on collecting, preserving, displaying, propagating and educating as well as investing in scientific research.

During the historic days of August, every day the National History Museum welcomed thousands of visitors to come and learn about the historical significance of the August Revolution of 1945.

While viewing the images and artifacts, Nguyen Thu An (10th grade student at Viet Duc High School) with her friends Nguyen Mai Phuong (10th grade student at Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted), Kim Chi (10th grade student at Yen Hoa High School, Cau Giay District, Hanoi) and many tourists also attentively listened to the introduction of tour guide Nguyen Thi Phuong (Public Education Department, National Museum of History).

“During the historic days of August, we visited the museum to better understand the history of the country that our ancestors shed so much blood to win.

Through each image, story, and artifact, I can somewhat see the sacrifices, hardships, and efforts of generations of fathers and grandfathers to build and develop the country," female student Nguyen Thu An shared.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, working at the Public Education Department, National History Museum, said that the success of the August Revolution in 1945, the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, marked a great turning point in the history of the Vietnamese nation.

With that historical significance, the August Revolution of 1945 is focused on being displayed by the National History Museum in 6/29 rooms of the exhibition system. The National History Museum is preserving 273 artifacts and 61 images selected from the collection of nearly 2,000 artifacts about the August Revolution of 1945.

The valuable collections of artifacts are only available at the National Museum of History such as the collection of leaflets, the collection of revolutionary newspapers from 1925-1945, along with primitive printing tools and means, the collection of homemade weapons used by the Vietnamese people during the August Revolution. The public also has access to many valuable artifacts and original documents associated with historical events such as: Resolution of the Tan Trao National Congress in August 1945, Military orders of the National Uprising Committee, the seal of the Viet Minh General Department in 1944-1945, etc.

Coming to the exhibition area of ​​the National History Museum, visitors can learn more about the August Revolution through typical artifacts and documents such as: Leader Nguyen Ai Quoc's manuscript on developing mass organizations and Viet Minh in 1941, ... or propaganda documents that were published in secret conditions such as: The book History of our country by President Ho Chi Minh ...

The photo shows the “Bac Son” newspaper No. 1 dated July 10, 1944, the propaganda agency of the Viet Minh special zone, calling on the entire population to unite against the enemy and prepare for an uprising. The “Trumpet Call to Soldiers” newspaper No. 2 dated October 27, 1944, the propaganda agency of the Vietnam National Salvation Army. The “Khoi Nghia” newspaper No. 6 dated July 15, 1945, the propaganda agency of the Viet Minh Quang Trung.
