Ethnicity and Religion Ho Chi Minh City

Kinhtedothi – On March 5, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a conference to announce the Resolution on establishing the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions; and to hand over decisions on personnel work.

Accordingly, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Ho Chi Minh City was established on the basis of merging the Ethnic Minorities Committee under the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Religious Affairs Committee under the Department of Home Affairs of the City. The Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions has 2 headquarters; headquarters 1 at 177 Ly Chinh Thang, Vo Thi Sau Ward (District 3) and headquarters 2 at 108 Ngo Quyen, Ward 7 (District 5).

The Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Ho Chi Minh City is Mr. Nguyen Duy Tan. There are 5 Deputy Directors of the Department: Mr. Huynh Van Hong Ngoc, Mr. Tran Xuan Dien, Mr. Tang Phuoc Loc, Mr. Dinh Van Hoa and Ms. Dang Thi Tuyet Mai.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions has 5 units, including the Office and 4 Departments (1, 2, 3 and 4). Accordingly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga holds the position of Chief of Office; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang holds the position of Head of Department 1; Mr. Tran Minh Duc and Mr. Lam Tuan Anh hold the position of Deputy Heads of Department 2 (no Head of Department yet); Mr. Tran Chi Vi holds the position of Head of Department 3 and Mr. Nguyen Van Luong holds the position of Head of Department 4.

The Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions is a specialized agency under the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; has legal status, its own seal and account; complies with the direction and management of the organization, staffing and other activities of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, and at the same time complies with the direction, inspection and guidance on expertise and profession of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions and relevant Central Ministries and branches.

The functions, tasks and powers of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Ho Chi Minh City are implemented according to the regulations of the Government, the instructions of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, relevant Central Ministries and branches and the regulations of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
