Phase 1 is scheduled for April 7, 2024, and phase 2 is scheduled for June 2, 2024. In addition to the 21 locations held in 2023, Ho Chi Minh City National University is expected to add 2 more testing locations in Binh Phuoc and Tay Ninh provinces in 2024.

Ho Chi Minh City National University plans to continue expanding the scale of the competency assessment exam in 2025, and the exam structure will be adjusted to suit the new general education program.
From 2018 to 2023, the number of candidates registering for the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam is increasing. Specifically, in 2018, nearly 5,000 candidates from 616 high schools registered for the exam.
In 2023, more than 100,000 candidates from 1,815 high schools registered to take the exam. The number of registrations in 2023 increased by 9% compared to 2022 and increased by more than 50% compared to 2021.
In addition, the National University's competency assessment exam has also expanded its coordination. In 2018, the exam was organized within the Ho Chi Minh City National University with 7 member universities; in 2023, 47 universities and colleges nationwide participated in coordinating the organization of the exam.
Besides, the number of schools using the results of this exam also increased, from 7 schools in 2018 to 97 schools in 2023.
