Contacting an intellectual math center named S. on Dong Da Street, Hai Chau District, Da Nang, the reporter was introduced by this center that has a full-day class for children during the summer vacation from May 27 to August 18.
According to teachers at the S. center, children study from Monday to Friday (7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.). The center allows parents to pick them up later, at 5 p.m. Children can read books or watch cartoons while waiting for their parents to pick them up.
Tuition fee is 3.2 million VND/month. During the summer boarding program, children learn math, write, and practice Vietnamese. In addition, children also learn soft skills.
Not only the centers, many individuals also post recruitment information for summer boarding classes and audit classes on social networking groups in Da Nang. Many announcements from individuals claiming to be teachers for audit programs for grade 1, calligraphy training... with attractive commitments on teaching quality and care.
Ms. AV (a parent whose child is about to enter 2nd grade, Cam Le district) said she had planned summer school for her child early.
"My child will have about a week of summer vacation, then enter the summer school program every day: morning extra cultural classes before the program, afternoon gifted classes, and late afternoon skills classes before parents come to pick him up," said Ms. AV.
Explaining her child's busy schedule during the summer vacation, Ms. AV said that because her parents work all day, they don't know who to send their child to at home, partly because she wants her child to study so that he can catch up with his classmates in the new school year.

Will suspend and dissolve violating establishments
Mr. Tran Nguyen Minh Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang - said that the department recently issued an official dispatch to rectify foreign language training, information technology, life skills education and extracurricular educational activities.
Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang requested that foreign language, information technology, and life skills centers absolutely not organize summer boarding English programs, summer boarding life skills programs, boarding activities for students, and preschool childcare at the locations of foreign language, information technology, and life skills centers.

Organizing these activities is not within the duties and powers of the center. The centers organize teaching programs that have been approved by the department, and are not allowed to use textbooks and teaching materials that are contrary to the programs registered with the department and current regulations.
Mr. Thanh said that the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang will coordinate with relevant departments and branches to strengthen inspection of the organization and operation of these centers. If violations are detected, they will be suspended or dissolved according to regulations.
