Dalat deserves a book street.

On March 31, Mr. Tran Hong Thai - Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee - worked with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province to deploy upcoming tasks, including the book street in Da Lat.

Regarding the development of culture in general and reading culture in particular, Mr. Tran Thanh Hoai - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province - reported that the publishing industry and reading culture in the locality are developing strongly.

There are special projects that other places do not have, implemented by the private sector: the O Cua Sach library and publishing project. The project was implemented by a teacher from Da Lat who grew up in the education sector in Ho Chi Minh City and returned to Da Lat.

Mr. Hoai also said that over the years, Da Lat City and the cultural sector have expressed their desire to have a book street in the center of Da Lat.

Mr. Tran Hong Thai said: "If Da Lat doesn't want a book street, then who else would? Da Lat deserves a real book street."

The Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requested the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism "to implement immediately, do not stop at wishes and slogans but must have products". He emphasized: "Making a book street is not easy but must be determined to do it".

According to Mr. Thai, building a book street in Da Lat must balance many factors to develop culture and economy as well as avoid wasting resources without achieving commensurate results, and Da Lat book street is also a tourism product.

Mr. Thai also requested that there should be several workshops to record the opinions of experts in the publishing field, and the support of book distribution companies and publishers.

The Da Lat Book Street was directed by the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee to be implemented in 2023, with Ho Tung Mau Street as the location. However, it has not been implemented yet.
