On the evening of September 3 in Manila, Philippines, Vietnam's Cuc Phuong National Park was honored in the category of Asia's Leading National Park 2024 of the World Travel Awards. This is the sixth consecutive time since 2019 that Cuc Phuong has won this title.
The competitors that Cuc Phuong overcame included Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park (Japan), Chitwan National Park (Nepal), Minnieriya National Park (Sri Lanka), Kinabalu and Taman Negara National Parks (both of Malaysia) and Cat Tien National Park.
Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh, Director of Cuc Phuong National Park, said "the award is a great source of encouragement and also the community's affection for Cuc Phuong's efforts over more than 60 years".
Cuc Phuong takes the effectiveness of forest protection and biodiversity conservation as a product of scientific research, environmental education, and ecotourism services to raise awareness, develop community livelihoods, and contribute to rapid, green, and sustainable economic development. The award affirms the attractiveness of ecotourism - a type of tourism that is being exploited in national parks and conservation areas in Vietnam.
Also at the award ceremony, Ha Giang was recognized as Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province was named Asia's Leading Local Tourism Management Agency 2024; Hoi An - Quang Nam received the title of Asia's Leading Cultural City Destination for the fifth time, and Vietravel received three awards for travel and tour operations.
The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, is a prestigious award recognized worldwide and is considered the "Oscar of the tourism industry". The award is held annually to honor outstanding destinations, tourism management agencies, and quality tourism service providers, including many categories such as airlines, hotels, resorts, travel companies, and tourist destinations.
