The 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam has marked an increase in cultural exchanges between the two countries, with more and more young Vietnamese people coming to China to study and learn about its culture. Nguyen Huyen Anh, a Vietnamese student at Beijing Normal University, is one of them.
"Dear beloved Chinese Culture, hello and hope you are well. I write this letter during sleepless nights, missing you endlessly, hoping that when you read these lines, you will feel comforted and a smile will appear on your lips...", this is an excerpt from the letter Huyen Anh wrote to the contest.
When asked why she wrote this letter, Nguyen Huyen Anh shared: “ My love for China began with the aroma of tea. From poems about tea, I began to learn and understand deeply about Chinese tea culture. For me, tea culture is not only a technique but also a philosophy of life . ”
For Huyen Anh, the process of making tea is as meaningful and beautiful as an enlightenment. Drinking tea is not just about enjoying a cup of tea, but about letting the soul and body blend with the tea, expanding the mind and the self.

Poetry is the key that helps Huyen Anh deeply understand Chinese wisdom. The female international student shared her impression when seeing Chinese children being able to memorize classical poems, which helped her realize that poetry is not only the beauty of language but also the "conduit" for passing on the civilization of each generation.
From the words and poems, the female student abroad learned more about love, learned resilience, found ideals, and saw hope. In it, she learned more about the Chinese spirit of harmony of all things, in Chinese civilization.
From “the green reeds, the white dew” to “I wish there were tens of thousands of big houses, sheltering all the poor people in the world”, thousands of years of history and civilization are recorded and passed down in poetry.
Every Chinese person knows these poems, even 2-3 year old children. This also helps everyone, especially young people, understand the thoughts of the ancients, to pass on and continue the culture of the nation.
Nguyen Huyen Anh shared that she spent time traveling and experiencing reality in China, this is also part of the reason why she wrote her letter.
“I went to Dujiangyan to witness how tradition and modernity blend together in life ; I went to the Suzhou dike in Hangzhou, where poet Su Shi built a hydraulic project, to see the philosophy of man and nature, the unity of nature and man , becoming the historical legacy of China and the collective cultural memory ,” Huyen Anh confided.
