The Traffic Police Department - Tien Giang Provincial Police said this afternoon (October 13) that it is coordinating with related professional units to clarify the cause of the incident where a truck on a ferry suddenly swerved forward and fell into the Tien River.
Previously, at around 8:30 a.m. the same day, driver Cao Thanh Son (43 years old, residing in Long Ho district, Vinh Long province) drove a truck down the ferry across the Tien River, heading from Tan Phong to Hiep Duc (Cai Lay district).
When approaching Hiep Duc wharf, driver Son's truck suddenly had an accident, drove forward from the ferry, and fell into the river.
At that time, there was driver Son and 2 other people in the car. All 3 people quickly got out of the vehicle, swam to shore safely but suffered minor injuries.
At the time of the accident, the truck was carrying 1.5 tons of scrap. The waterway traffic police assisted the vehicle owner in recovering the sunken truck from the river.
