VnExpressVnExpress21/11/2023

Mr. Vu Tien Thanh was dismissed by Ho Chi Minh City Club from November 21 due to irreconcilable differences.

This morning, Ho Chi Minh City Club held a meeting to introduce a new sponsor at the club's headquarters in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. Only a few players attended, except for coach Vu Tien Thanh, who was absent. This was considered the last straw because in the past, there had been many disagreements between Mr. Thanh and the club's leadership.

Immediately after the meeting, the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City Club announced their farewell to the 59-year-old coach.

Coach Vu Tien Thanh agreed to lead Ho Chi Minh City FC in the final stage of V-League 2022, when the team was at risk of relegation. Thanks to his strategic talent, the team successfully stayed in the league. In V-League 2023, despite many difficulties, Mr. Thanh still helped Ho Chi Minh City stay in the league in the final round.

At the 2023-2024 season launch ceremony, coach Vu Tien Thanh said that the team is facing many financial difficulties but still aims to finish in the top 5. Ho Chi Minh City Club currently still has a good squad, with many experienced players such as Nguyen Minh Tung, Ngo Tung Quoc, Nguyen Ha Long, Sam Ngoc Duc, Vo Huy Toan, Ho Tuan Tai, goalkeeper Patrick Le Giang, Brendon Lucas, Ntep Georges, Timite Cheick... After the first three rounds, the team won one, drew one and lost one, currently ranking seventh.

After parting ways with coach Vu Tien Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City FC has yet to announce a replacement. According to VnExpress , the team is promoting the invitation of Dusit Chalermsan to become head coach. Dusit is a famous Thai player, at the same time as Kiatisuk, who played for HAGL during its golden period of 2003-2007. After retiring, the former left-back born in 1970 has successively held the positions of assistant and then coach of HAGL. Dusit is currently free after parting ways with Thai League club PT Prachuap.
