In reality, life after college makes many young people feel “shocked”. “ Let a twenty-year-old learn to be an adult” (Chibooks and Lao Dong Publishing House) by author Nguyen Tuan Duc will help young people get used to the not-so-rosy perspectives when entering life.
Let a twenty-year-old child act like an adult is a picture of the life after graduating from university of a normal student, with his worries and concerns about a "life that is not like in the books".
Issues about work, finance, family, love, friendship, and difficulties and temptations (that anyone can easily encounter in the process of growing up) are told in a realistic and close way. Through the author's sharing, readers can refer to positive, easy-to-apply solutions for maintaining a balanced and confident mindset on the path to adulthood.
Like many other young people, Nguyen Tuan Duc also had a smooth educational path, like a “child of other people” when he was a student of a specialized school from middle school. After finishing high school, he passed the entrance exam to a prestigious university, with the simple reason “it will be easier to find a job later”. However, everything began to change when he turned 22, the time he graduated from university.
“The school held a solemn graduation ceremony, giving each student a bright red university degree that we had been eagerly waiting for since receiving our university admission notice. After shaking hands and taking photos, the principal smiled and invited us - the old group of new graduates - to go down to the stage, so that the new group could go up and continue receiving their diplomas. Later, I joked with my friends that at that moment, the principal meant something like, “That’s it, you guys go”, but the school did not mention where to go and what to do,” Nguyen Tuan Duc shared.
Leaving university is considered a new turning point for most young people. Everything before their eyes becomes vague.
Nguyen Tuan Duc expressed: “I know many of my peers are in the same situation as me - people who spend twenty years of their lives going from home to school, then from school back home, burying themselves in studying and studying. Therefore, I wrote this book not with the purpose of finding a philosophy of life or a way to success after university, but to provide readers with psychological developments, real-life situations, concerns about work, finance, family, love, friends and all other aspects of daily life after graduating from university, along with practical solutions to solve and create good habits to improve themselves every day”.
Before Let the Twenty-Year-Old Practice Being an Adult , Nguyen Tuan Duc released Who Are You Among the Many Lifestyles in 2023, also a book about life skills for young people.
With this book, he hopes to help young people who have just left the university to feel less uncertain before this big turning point in their lives; as well as young people who are about to graduate from university but are still "confused", without any precise direction for the future - to answer the question: What awaits us after university?
