During a recent field survey at the enterprise, the working delegation of the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee highly appreciated this work.

Bringing dual economic and environmental benefits

Investing in electric vehicles, installing solar panels, reducing lighting power, etc. are green energy conversion solutions at ICD Tan Cang - Long Binh Joint Stock Company (Long Binh Ward, Bien Hoa City). Thanks to that, on average, each year, the company saves about 177 thousand kWh of electricity, equivalent to more than 2% of total consumption output. Not only that, the company retains old customers and continuously gains new customers.

Mr. Phan Anh Tuan, Director of Tan Cang - Long Binh ICD Joint Stock Company, said that the specific business of warehousing, storage and loading and unloading goods does not use as much electricity as heavy industrial production facilities. However, that does not mean that the issue of energy saving and green conversion is not taken seriously by the enterprise. In the past, the enterprise has invested in converting 25% of diesel forklifts to electric vehicles, replacing more than 1,500 incandescent/fluorescent bulbs with LED lights; investing in a solar power system of more than 3,000 panels, with a capacity of 2 MWp for on-site use and coordinating with other investors to build a system of more than 44,100 panels, with a capacity of 19 MWp for sale to the electricity industry.

In 2025, Dong Nai aims to save at least 2.1% of total electricity consumption. The province's total energy consumption in 2025 is expected to be more than 17 billion kWh, excluding renewable energy.

In the coming time, Tan Cang - Long Binh ICD Joint Stock Company will continue to promote and launch the Electricity Saving Emulation Movement to all employees and workers. Optimize the lighting system by adjusting lights by area to save electricity and maintain equipment life; use light sensors, timers, and automatically adjust brightness; switch to solar battery lighting systems. Regularly maintain and service equipment to reduce power consumption. For cool and cold storages, the work of arranging goods will be reviewed to ensure good heat circulation and set appropriate temperatures. Continue to install solar power on the remaining factory roof area for use and partially connect to the grid.

Saitex International Dong Nai Co., Ltd. (Amata Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City) has a similar approach of making the most of solar energy for drying and production, optimizing lighting, improving production processes...

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Kim Oanh, Head of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health and Sustainable Development of Saitex International Dong Nai Co., Ltd., said that the company currently has 5 factories in Dong Nai and its garment products are exported to more than 20 different countries. For this reason, the use of green energy and emission reduction is an inevitable requirement. To meet the needs of customers and partners, the company utilizes heat in the factory to dry clothes after washing instead of using a dryer, uses biomass pellets to heat the washing and dyeing water, and invests in a solar power system for production and lighting. Thanks to that, the company saves hundreds of millions of VND in electricity bills each month, reduces emissions to the environment, and meets the green criteria for exported goods.

Contribute to ensuring energy security

Using green energy in production, in addition to direct economic and environmental benefits, also helps businesses increase their competitiveness in the international market. Because currently, many foreign partners, especially from Europe and North America, have set strict standards on carbon emissions and the use of clean energy in the supply chain. Meeting these requirements helps businesses avoid being eliminated from the "game", maintain market share and continuously expand.

However, there are still certain barriers to the transition to green, clean energy. These include the high initial investment costs for machinery, which may require businesses to gradually phase in the transition; the procedures for installing solar panels on factory roofs are still complicated and time-consuming, especially the regulations for connecting to the national grid; there are not many renewable energy projects invested in to sell directly to businesses.

Mr. Le Quang Lam, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity Group, said that Dong Nai is a province that uses a large amount of electricity in the country. In recent times, thanks to the good implementation of the provisions of the Law on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy and good implementation of load adjustment, the province has not experienced power shortages during peak periods.

According to the leader of Vietnam Electricity Group, actions such as investing in new machinery and equipment to reduce energy consumption; switching from using electricity to renewable energy; changing production processes, adjusting peak load in enterprises need to be replicated to reduce pressure on electricity supply, contributing to ensuring national energy security.

During a field survey at a number of enterprises in the province, Mr. Nguyen Phuong Tuan, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Science, Technology and Environment, highly appreciated the enterprises' approach, saying that these solutions have brought certain effectiveness, are highly feasible, and can be replicated in many other enterprises and localities. Mr. Tuan suggested that enterprises continue to pay attention to implementing many solutions that contribute to the economical and efficient use of energy.

In the context of increasingly unpredictable climate change, gradually depleted resources and stricter requirements for emission reduction and sustainable development of the international market, switching to green energy is an inevitable requirement.
