Rain and wind cannot stop progress
These days, the Central region is entering the rainy season. Unable to construct the roadbed, the contractor of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway has focused on constructing a system of bridges, culverts, tunnels through mountains... to increase production.
At the construction site, despite the incessant rain, at the bridge and culvert projects... especially inside the 3 tunnels through the mountain, mechanical equipment is still operating loudly and workers are still working hard.
Taking advantage of the sunny weather, the contractor built the abutment of Song Ve bridge.
At the XL1 package through Tu Nghia and Nghia Hanh, in recent days, contractors on the route have changed construction solutions by moving most of the workers and mechanical equipment to focus on items other than the roadbed.
Right at the starting point of the route, contractor Dacinco started construction of the overpass on provincial road 623B. In a short time, the retaining wall and bridge abutment had been completed with iron baskets, and the contractor began installing formwork to prepare for pouring concrete.
At the Ve River Bridge construction site, the largest bridge item on the route with a length of 600m, Deo Ca contractor deployed 4 construction teams focusing on the bridge deck and abutments.
It is noted that after more than 20 months, the contractor has completed the construction of the lower section and poured concrete for 12/14 spans. In recent days, the work of making steel and planning to pour concrete for the bridge deck of the last spans is being urgently carried out.
The contractor representative said that because the roadbed construction work was difficult due to the weather, they focused human resources and equipment on other related items to "beat the rain".
Along the 88km project route, construction sites are bustling with a spirit of urgency and seriousness to ensure the plan, increase output to disburse more than 4,000 billion arranged for the project in 2024.
In addition to other items on the route, Deo Ca contractor focuses on promoting the critical path, completing the tunnel lining and foundation of tunnels 1 and 2.
Among the peak construction points of the project, in the section of 3 tunnels through the mountain with a total length of 4,500m, the Deo Ca contractor is mobilizing maximum equipment and people to focus on construction.
At tunnels 1 and 2, the contractor is working hard to complete the tunnel lining system, speed up the work of cement-reinforced gravel roadbed and concrete surface of tunnel 2.
Up to now, both of these 1,300m long road tunnels have basically completed the "hard" part and the contractor is focusing on completing the remaining items to ensure the completion of all basic construction in September 2024.
In tunnel number 3 alone, which is 3,200m long, hundreds of workers, mechanics, and blasters take turns working 24/7 without a single minute of rest. On the construction site, all four construction teams of the two tunnels continuously resound with the sound of mechanical equipment and machinery working.
Modern drilling machines enter to drill through the rock layer, open the new excavation face, and the excavator comes back to dig and dump the rock onto trucks to transport to the storage yard. All stages of the project take place regularly and continuously.
To ensure the project's critical path, the contractor accelerated the drilling of tunnel number 3.
To date, the contractor has dug about 3,400/6,400m for both tunnels, an increase of about 350m compared to before the launching ceremony.
Deputy General Director of Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company Nguyen Quang Huy said that in any difficulty or disadvantage, the contractor and investor still find ways to resolve it to ensure the critical path of progress.
Currently, due to the stormy weather, the contractor will continue to carry out construction of other items along the entire route, maintaining a stable construction pace. In particular, the peak is still the construction of 3 tunnels through the mountain. This is an important critical line of the project, not only ensuring the overall progress output but also ensuring the capital disbursement plan.
The contractor is still maintaining dozens of main construction points along the route outside the tunnel category. Of which, by the end of 2024, tunnel 3 will be dug to reach 5,000/6,400m for both tunnel tubes and by April 30, 2025, tunnel 3 will be opened. Tunnels 1 and 2 will be completed in 2024.
"We are working hard every day to increase construction output, so despite the rain and wind, the construction site is still bustling, contractors are working tirelessly to ensure each progress milestone set at the beginning of the year," said Mr. Huy.
Add staff and equipment to speed up progress
More than 1 month after the Prime Minister launched a 500-day competition to complete 3,000km of the North-South Eastern Expressway in the 2021-2025 period, at the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway construction site, contractors are speeding up construction.
Night construction of Song Ve bridge deck, the largest bridge item of the project with a length of more than 600m.
Taking advantage of favorable weather, the contractor implemented 3 shifts of construction, and when night fell, the lights of mechanical equipment were on at the construction site. Engineers and workers were always on duty at each position to direct the construction work.
In addition, to ensure the output and plan of the project, especially after the Prime Minister's emulation launch order, the Deo Ca contractor and the investor reviewed the entire project and proceeded to replace and "rescue" items and sections of the route that were undertaken by subcontractors but did not ensure progress.
Accordingly, in addition to maintaining 43 construction sites as before, Deo Ca contractor added 7 new construction sites, increased locomotives, equipment, and personnel from other projects to Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway to speed up.
Mr. Huy said that the entire project currently has more than 4,000 employees and 1,700 construction equipment working in 3 shifts. Up to now, more than 9 million m3 of soil has been filled along the K95 road, an increase of 1 million m3 compared to the time the Prime Minister launched the emulation campaign.
In particular, at section Km5-Km8, the contractor completed about 3km of crushed stone mixed with cement reinforcement. Particularly, section Km5+480 - Km7 has been paved with asphalt concrete.
One month after the Prime Minister launched the emulation campaign, the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway has seen clear changes, including the paving of the roadbed with asphalt concrete.
"The asphalt concrete paving is an important step in completing the project under the direction of the Ministry of Transport and the Prime Minister. At the same time, the construction of CTB cement reinforced crushed stone mix will be implemented and the first batch of asphalt concrete is expected to be laid in the XL2 package at the end of September if the weather is favorable to ensure the target of paving about 10km along the route in 2024," Mr. Huy emphasized.
