The US Mission in Vietnam is recruiting candidates to come to the US to study or teach at universities and colleges.
According to the announcement on June 15, the Fulbright Vietnam Scholar Program 2024 accepts applications until 5:00 p.m. on October 17.
To participate in the program, candidates must be Vietnamese citizens, have a master's or doctoral degree (or equivalent in some specialized fields) and be fluent in English. They can be university lecturers, or officials, experts of ministries or government agencies, or experts in the private sector, research institutes, and non-governmental organizations.
The program is open to candidates with outstanding academic or professional achievements in any field. Applicants can choose a scholarship for one semester (5 months) or one academic year (9 months) and must begin in September 2024 or January 2025. The scholarship includes round-trip airfare, living expenses, and health and accident insurance. They must return to the United States upon completion of the program.
Those who have lived or worked in the United States or have received a Fulbright grant within the past five years or have come to the United States on an exchange visa (J-1) in the professor or research scholar category within the past two years are not eligible to apply.
The Fulbright Scholar Program was established in 1946 and funded by the U.S. Congress to promote mutual understanding through academic and cultural exchange. In Vietnam, the program began in 1998, awarding about 7-10 scholarships each year.
