Here, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the National Assembly's Standing Vice Chairman listened to reports from agencies and inspected the preparations for facilities, technology, security, healthcare, information and communication, etc.; rehearsed the opening ceremony of the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference; visited booths at the Exhibition Area for Innovation Achievements and OCOP Products.
The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated and commended the Conference Organizing Committee, the National Conference Secretariat, the Subcommittees, the Group of Young Vietnamese National Assembly Deputies and relevant Central agencies and Hanoi City for their efforts in completing the huge amount of work to prepare for the Conference. Up to now, all preparations have been completed, ready for all conditions for the successful organization of the Conference.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that the 9th Global Meeting of Young Parliamentarians with the theme “The role of youth in promoting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals through digital transformation and innovation” is the largest multilateral diplomatic event hosted by Vietnam this year. The conference attracted the participation of nearly 500 international and domestic delegates from parliaments of IPU member countries and inter-parliamentary organizations, international organizations, and observers.

The National Assembly's hosting of the Conference is of great significance, promoting the role of the National Assembly in implementing the Party's foreign policy, especially Resolution No. 34-NQ/TW of the Politburo on "Some major orientations and policies to implement the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress", Directive No. 25-CT/TW of the Secretariat of the 12th Party Central Committee on promoting and elevating multilateral diplomacy to 2030 and the Strategy for developing Vietnamese youth for the period 2021-2030. At the same time, it continues to affirm the active, proactive and responsible participation, promoting the role and position of the Vietnamese National Assembly at the IPU - the largest multilateral parliamentary organization in the world, and also one of the oldest multilateral organizations in the world.
With a theme that is both topical and geared towards the future of sustainable development globally, the National Assembly Chairman stated that the Conference is an opportunity for young parliamentarians from the Inter-Parliamentary Union member parliaments to discuss parliamentary actions, promote the role of young people in accelerating the implementation of sustainable development goals through digital transformation and innovation, and promote cultural diversity for sustainable development.
The National Assembly Chairman also requested that the Conference Organizing Committee, the Conference National Secretariat, Subcommittees, and relevant agencies continue to carefully review the work, ensuring the successful organization of the Conference, clearly demonstrating the role and mark of the host country.
On behalf of the IPU Young Parliamentarians' Forum Leadership Board, Ms. Emma Tangi Muteka, Member of Parliament of Namibia, sincerely thanked the close attention of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man to the 9th Global Meeting of Young Parliamentarians in general and the preparation work for the conference in particular; highly appreciated the preparation work of the host country Vietnam as well as the hospitality of the National Assembly and people of Vietnam.

According to the program, tomorrow morning, September 15, the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians will officially open at the National Convention Center with the theme "The role of youth in promoting the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals through digital transformation and innovation".
At the opening session, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue will deliver an important speech welcoming nearly 500 international and domestic delegates attending the Conference; President Vo Van Thuong will also send a message to the Conference.
Immediately after the opening session, the Conference will hear introductory speeches on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the role of digital transformation and innovation. Next, the Conference will conduct 3 thematic discussion sessions.
Specifically, the first session on "Digital Transformation" will focus on: perfecting institutions and policies to promote digital transformation to enhance opportunities for sustainable economic development; sharing experiences of parliaments in legislative work, supervision and the role of young parliamentarians to promote digital transformation in the context of the 4th industrial revolution (4IR); sharing progress made in digitizing parliamentary activities for sustainable development.
Thereby, delegates will focus on proposing policies and solutions, especially perfecting institutions on innovation, testing new models, deploying new applications and digital platforms to accelerate digital transformation; popularizing digital connectivity, raising digital awareness, digital culture and digital skills for people, narrowing the digital gap and ensuring equitable access to technology towards the goal of leaving no one behind in the digital environment, ensuring sustainable development.

At the 2nd thematic discussion session on "Innovation and startups", the conference will focus on discussing the improvement of institutions and policies in promoting innovation and startups (including youth startups) as a driving force for inclusive and sustainable development, including the food technology sector (foodtech); sharing experiences of parliaments in legislation, supervision and the role of young parliamentarians to promote innovation and startups; exchanging and discussing the development of artificial intelligence contributing to the process of achieving SDGs; proposing to parliaments policies and solutions on building and improving institutions and policies to minimize risks related to artificial intelligence.
At the 3rd thematic discussion session on "Promoting respect for cultural diversity for sustainable development", the Conference will focus on discussing: the role of parliaments and young parliamentarians in promoting respect for cultural diversity in the context of technological transformation and globalization; ethical digital cooperation and minimizing the unintended impacts of digital transformation on privacy, security and happiness; promoting the role of culture in development policies at the national, regional and international levels; commitment to protecting and promoting cultural diversity; creating a favorable environment and ecosystem for culture and cultural diversity; the role of culture and cultural diversity in sustainable development.
In particular, the Conference is expected to adopt the Conference Declaration on the Role of Youth in Promoting the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals through Digital Transformation and Innovation. This will be the first Declaration of the Global Meeting of Young Parliamentarians after 8 conferences.
