On the evening of August 31, dozens of foreign diplomats, ambassadors and representatives of countries with diplomatic relations with Vietnam gathered at the Hanoi Opera House. They came to attend the program celebrating the 78th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, chaired by President Vo Van Thuong and his wife.
The August Revolution was a great turning point.
Speaking at the event, President Vo Van Thuong once again reaffirmed the important historical value of the August Revolution in 1945 as "one of the most brilliant golden pages of the Vietnamese nation's history".
The Head of State emphasized that this historical event affirmed the strength of national unity, opening a great turning point, bringing the Vietnamese people into an era of national independence associated with socialism. An era in which the Vietnamese people, from being slaves, became masters of the country and their own destiny.
According to the President, since the revolutionary autumn of 1945, with the spirit of "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom", the Vietnamese people have been resilient and brave through many extremely arduous and fierce battles, with the sacrifice of millions of outstanding people to liberate the nation, unify the country, build and defend the Fatherland.
"Entering the Doi Moi period, with the goal of 'rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization', the Vietnamese people once again entered the arduous fight to eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, and backwardness and have achieved great and historic achievements," the President affirmed.

From a country with no name on the world map, today, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 192 countries, has risen to become a leading dynamic economy in Asia - Pacific, an important link in many economic links, free trade agreements, regional and global production chains.
"Vietnam is a country of peace, friendship, cooperation and development, a beautiful, safe, friendly and hospitable destination," the President emphasized to foreign diplomats.
The invaluable asset and great strength that helps the Vietnamese people overcome all difficulties, hardships and sacrifices is the spirit of patriotism, the strength of great national unity , the indomitable will and courage, the spirit of determination, self-reliance, self-reliance, and the strong desire for independence, freedom, peace and happiness.
Vietnam is a sincere and loyal friend of all countries.
The President also repeatedly mentioned the words of President Ho Chi Minh - National Liberation Hero, World Cultural Celebrity - who once said: Vietnam is a part of the world, everything in the world is related to Vietnam.
Following his teachings, over the years, Vietnam has consistently pursued a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, multilateralization, being a friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the world.
Vietnam has successfully fulfilled many important responsibilities at multilateral forums, joined hands to realize development goals, protected human rights and actively contributed to maintaining world peace, and is loved by international friends.

In the context of a volatile and complex world, the President said that to maintain peace and prosperity for all nations, countries need to unite, promote cooperation, strengthen multilateralism, and comply with the United Nations Charter and international law.
The President affirmed that Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge for cooperation and dialogue, strengthen multilateralism, and promote the peaceful settlement of disputes through dialogue on the basis of the United Nations Charter and international law.
"Vietnam will always be a sincere and loyal friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community," the President emphasized.
