On November 28 and 29, King Norodom Sihamoni will hold talks and meetings with all the highest-ranking leaders of Vietnam, thereby contributing to deepening the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship under the motto "Good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability". In recent times, the relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia has continued to develop positively. The political relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia continues to develop well. The high-ranking leaders of the two countries have maintained visits and contacts between ministries, branches and localities of the two countries with practical cooperation mechanisms being implemented more and more effectively, bringing the cooperation in all fields to an increasingly deeper level. Both sides have always affirmed that they will not allow any hostile forces to use their territory to harm the security of the other country. On the basis of the Treaties, Agreements and agreements of the two countries' senior leaders, the competent agencies, authorities and people of the border areas of both sides are actively coordinating to implement the work of demarcation and marker planting on land. In 2019, the two sides signed two legal documents recognizing the achievements of demarcation and marker planting of about 84% of the Vietnam - Cambodia land border. The two governments pledge to continue to create favorable conditions for the two countries' citizens to live in each other's territory, in accordance with the laws of each country. Economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries has developed rapidly and achieved encouraging results. In 2022, Vietnam - Cambodia trade turnover reached 10.57 billion USD, an increase of about 10.88% over the same period in 2021. In 2023, due to the impact of the world economy, the trade turnover between the two countries only reached 8.6 billion USD, down 19.5% over the same period in 2022. However, this year, trade between the two countries has shown signs of recovery, reaching 8.3 billion USD in the first 10 months of the year, an increase of 17.5% over the same period in 2023. The two sides set a target of 20 billion USD in bilateral trade turnover in the coming time. Vietnam is currently Cambodia's third largest trading partner (after China and the US) and Cambodia's largest trading partner in ASEAN. To date, Vietnam has 205 valid investment projects in Cambodia with a total registered capital of 2.94 billion USD, ranking first in ASEAN and in the top 5 countries with the largest direct investment in Cambodia, and second among 79 countries and territories with investment from Vietnam. Other areas of cooperation in education - training, transportation, culture, health, telecommunications, etc. have also been focused on and promoted. Every year, Vietnam grants hundreds of long-term scholarships to Cambodian students to study in Vietnam and the number of Vietnamese students studying in Cambodia is increasing. The two countries also regularly organize cultural and artistic exchange activities, especially in border localities. Vietnam regularly organizes volunteer medical delegations to examine, treat and provide free medicine to the Cambodian people; Cambodian patients who come to Vietnam for examination and treatment enjoy the same medical examination and treatment fees as Vietnamese people. The two countries also closely coordinate with each other at international, regional and sub-regional forums, especially the United Nations, ASEAN and ASEAN-led mechanisms, GMS, CLMV, ACMECS, etc., contributing to enhancing the prestige and position of each country in the region and the world.
