A MiG-31 fighter jet crashed during a training flight in Russia’s Far East off Kamchatka, the country’s Pacific Fleet said. The plane had earlier gone missing over the waters of Avacha Bay. The condition of the crew is unknown.
“The plane was not carrying ammunition,” the Russian military said, according to RT.

The military has sent search and rescue teams to the crash site to search for the crew and debris of the plane.
Other details regarding the accident and its cause have not been released.
The MiG-31 is a two-seat, all-weather, supersonic interceptor fighter. It is armed with a six-barrel 23 mm cannon and is adapted to carry air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles, bombs, and hypersonic ballistic missiles.
