On January 4, information from the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee said that according to the announcement of the Lao Cai Provincial Statistics Office, the consumer price index (CPI) of Lao Cai in 2024 increased by 1.59% compared to the previous year. In the group of main consumer goods and services, there were 09 groups of goods increasing in price, 02 groups of goods decreasing in price compared to the same period last year.

Some groups of goods that will increase in price in 2024 include: Medicines and medical services (up 8.47%); other goods and services (up 3.74%); food and catering services (up 3.89%); household appliances and equipment (up 0.03%); transportation (up 0.03%); housing, electricity, water and construction materials (up 1.54%); culture, entertainment and tourism (up 1.32%)... There are 02 groups that will decrease in price: post and telecommunications (down 0.14%) and education (down 10.65%).
The main reasons for the CPI increase in 2024 are the increase in prices of food and catering services; increased consumer demand during holidays and Tet; the impact of natural disasters, storms and floods; the price of gasoline, oil, medical services and health insurance increases according to the basic salary level...
