NATO commander killed; West sends big gift to Ukraine... are notable information about the Russia-Ukraine war situation on the morning of October 27.

NATO commander killed, Chasov Yar about to "fall"

Amid the tense war, Russia's Telegram channel recently reported that a Ukrainian mercenary commander was killed after being attacked by the Moscow Army.

According to the Telegram channel “Wargonzo” (Russia), the Chasov Yar area has again become the epicenter of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

In this fierce battle, the drone group of the Russian 98th Airborne Division used drones to conduct precision bombing, destroying a Ukrainian tank. This precision attack not only demonstrated the combat power of Russian drones, but also further aggravated the difficult situation of the Ukrainian army in the Chasov Yar area.

As a result, Ukraine’s defenses are in a critical state. According to estimates from many sources, by the morning of October 24, Russian troops controlled 40% to 45% of the Chasov Yar area. Photo: WSJ.

It is noteworthy that the Ukrainian army is still using the white cross symbol in this area. This symbol is designed to distinguish friend from foe on the battlefield, but under the precision attacks of the Russian army, these symbols do not seem to have the expected effect. This also partly reflects the passive position of the Ukrainian army on the battlefield.

In addition, Jorge Yelian Pimiento Mejia, a mercenary from Colombia and commander of the 2nd Company of the Foreign Legion of NATO's Normandy Battalion, was killed by special forces of the 200th Independent Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Leningrad Military District.

The departure of this commander certainly caused serious damage to the morale of the Ukrainian Army, and at the same time added many elements of surprise to the battlefield situation.

On the battlefield, over the past two days, the Russian army has made significant progress in its attacks on Chasov Yar. Forces including the 98th Airborne Division, the 200th Independent Motorized Infantry Brigade, the Chechen Akhmat Brigade and the Wagner Volunteer Battalion have coordinated a strong attack on the Ukrainian Army.

As a result, the Ukrainian defense line is in a critical condition. According to various sources, Russian troops control 40% to 45% of the Chasov Yar area.

Russian armor strikes, "defeats" Ukrainian soldiers

Meanwhile, both Russia and Ukraine are focusing on fighting at the Kursk front, making this battlefield more fierce than ever.

On the Kursk side, facing a strong counterattack from Ukrainian reinforcements, the Russian army temporarily stopped its attack and switched to clearing the area and defending, while sending more troops here.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian army took advantage of the pause in Russia’s offensive to launch a larger-scale counterattack and to bring in more elite units from the eastern front. Currently, in Ukraine’s Sumy Oblast, several mechanized units mobilized from eastern Ukraine and Kharkiv are regrouping, reorganizing, and then advancing one by one into Kursk to join the battle.

However, the Ukrainian Army is facing a major problem. According to military expert Anatoly Matveichuk, due to the mud, Ukrainian heavy equipment units can in most cases only move by road to the Kursk front, creating an opportunity for the Russians to ambush and destroy this heavy equipment.

Currently, Russian missile and air forces are operating in overdrive, focusing on bombing Ukrainian Army gathering points along the Sumy route, including armed helicopters such as Ka-52M and Mi-28.

The air force is also moving into the border, using anti-tank missiles to attack or harass armored columns of Ukrainian reinforcements. The Ukrainian army has also urgently deployed some air defense systems, and the two sides are engaged in a battle between air strikes and counter-air strikes.

According to the report of the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Ukrainian reinforcements launched a counterattack along the entire front to relieve the army group north of Kursk. They carried out several mechanized attacks from Plekhovo in the south of Sudzha to Malaya Loknya in the north and then to the village of Zeleny Shlyakh in the west.

Even the Pokrovsky farm in the west was heavily attacked by the Ukrainian army, but all these attacks were repelled by the Russian army. However, according to observer Mikhail Zvenchuk, the village of Novoivanovka, which was previously completely under the control of the Russian army, was attacked and destroyed by the Ukrainian army, but the Ukrainian army still does not control this village, which is currently in a state of stalemate.

The Ukrainian army also attempted to launch a counterattack on the village of Lyubimovka, but after being defeated by the Russians, they retreated into the woods south and east of the village. During the large-scale counterattack, the Ukrainian army appeared to have brought in thermite-spraying drones to destroy Russian positions.

To the north of the front line, Russian troops have recaptured the village of Olgovka and pushed the Ukrainians into the forests around it. Russian infantry have now entered the forest to conduct a cleanup operation. Near the village of Kremianoye, fierce fighting has been taking place and shows no signs of stopping, but the area is now largely under Russian control.

The fiercest fighting took place in the village of Zeleny Shlyakh, which has become a village-level “meat grinder”. Route 38K-030 passes through the village, and only by capturing it can Ukrainian reinforcements relieve the northern Kursk group. To do so, the Ukrainian Army repeatedly launched powerful assault teams into the area.

The West provides $50 billion in aid to Kiev

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal recently said that the US and many other Western countries have agreed to provide an additional 50 billion USD to the Kiev government.

The European Union (EU), the United States and the United Kingdom have decided to provide financial assistance to Ukraine through the frozen funds of Russia. Specifically, the EU will provide Ukraine with 35 billion euros, the United States will send 20 billion dollars and the United Kingdom will transfer 2.3 billion pounds. In total, Ukraine will receive an additional 50 billion dollars from the G7 and the EU as early as this year ,” Shmyhal said at a meeting held in Kiev.

According to Mr. Shmyhal, the above amount will “ create a sustainable financial and economic foundation for Ukraine in 2025 ”.
