After Mr. Thach, the teachers in the board of directors and representatives of the faculties and departments took turns welcoming new students in their respective languages. According to Hanoi University, welcoming students in different languages began 5 years ago. However, during the Covid-19 pandemic, this part was carried out online.

Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice President, said this performance is a unique feature of Hanoi University. Through it, students can experience and interact with the foreign languages taught by the university, and also learn more about the university's tradition of foreign language research. This year, the performance added Thai and Polish.

"I also feel as excited as students on their first day at school," said Mr. Dung, adding that the teachers have carefully prepared their speeches to welcome the students.

For his part, Mr. Dung praised the students’ efforts when they were admitted. He recognized that HANU is where students begin their journey to conquer challenges in their studies, shape their future careers and begin their dreams. He advised them to be confident, continue to develop and never stop trying.

The first time Thai appeared at the opening ceremony, Ms. Trinh Thi Thu Ha, lecturer at the Center for Thai Language and Culture, shared her feelings recalling her first opening day at HANU.

"Welcome to HANU. I wish you four happy years here, enjoy your studies and graduate as quality students. I wish you have big dreams and pursue them," Ms. Ha summarized her greeting in Thai.

According to the female lecturer, this form helps inspire and create the premise for students to like another language.

Dr. Pham Bich Ngoc, Head of the Italian Department, also believes that new students may not understand the content of the welcome speech, but hearing the languages they are about to learn for the first time will find them interesting and attractive.

" Don't think that university is just a walk in the park because every step will lead us to a bright future. Be confident because teachers will always accompany you on that wonderful journey," Ms. Ngoc said in her speech.
