Recently, to ensure a safe and stable power system, Hanoi Electricity Corporation requested lighting units to reduce at least 50% of the capacity of the public lighting system; turn on lights 30 minutes later, turn them off 30 minutes earlier; reduce advertising lighting capacity by 50% before 10:00 p.m., and turn them off completely after 10:00 p.m.
According to VTC News reporters at 7:30 p.m. on June 5, the Lang Ha area was darker than before due to the reduction of public lighting systems, billboards, etc. This is one of the central areas of the capital, often lit up every night.
The area of O Cho Dua 5-way intersection has all electrical equipment turned off, in contrast to the previously sparkling scene of electric lights.
Many high voltage electric poles on Nguyen Luong Bang street are not fully turned on to save electricity.
In the area around Hoan Kiem Lake, many lamp posts were also turned off. The lighting system of flower gardens, sidewalks and around the lake was almost completely turned off, leaving just enough light to ensure safety, security and order.
The Hang Gai - Hang Dao intersection area, which is normally brightly lit at night, is now plunged into darkness.
On Trang Tien Street, 50% of the light bulbs are not on.
Many high-power floodlights and all decorative lights were turned off in the Hoan Kiem Lake area.
The Hanoi Stock Exchange headquarters was turned off at 8pm on June 1. Nearby offices such as the City Party Committee and People's Committee only turned on security lights and turned off all decorative lights.
According to the Hanoi People's Committee, the public lighting system of 12 districts and national and provincial highways of 17 districts and towns has about 230,000 light sets, of which energy-saving LED lights account for only over 11%.
The total power capacity of the public lighting system is about 30,000 kw/h.
