Providing Western weapons to Ukraine is pointless
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said at the general political discussion of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly that Western arms supplies to Ukraine turned out to be meaningless; they could not change the situation on the battlefield.
“ We must honestly ask ourselves whether the West’s arms supplies to Ukraine are justified. Obviously, they do not make any sense because they do not change the situation on the battlefield and do not bring us closer to peace. Arms supplies only lead to a prolonged war ,” the head of the Hungarian diplomatic service said.
He also expressed hope that “those who are still thinking about sending more weapons to Ukraine will consider the consequences later.”
Ukraine's entire thermal power plant was destroyed.
President Zelensky, speaking at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, accused Russia of destroying all thermal power plants and most of the hydroelectric power generation capacity in Ukraine.
“ Russia conducted nine coordinated attacks on Ukraine’s electricity infrastructure between March and August, hitting targets in 20 regions ,” Zelensky said.

Mr. Zelensky accused Russia of wanting to make life difficult for millions of civilians, families, towns and villages in Ukraine.
“ Putin wants to leave them in the darkness and cold this winter, forcing Ukraine to suffer and surrender. Imagine, your country with 80% of the energy system gone, with such a part of the grid destroyed ,” the Ukrainian President stressed.
Mr. Trump unexpectedly criticized the President of Ukraine
Former President Trump recently criticized President Zelensky for refusing to compromise with Russia and making negative statements about himself.
“ The president of Ukraine is in our country and he is saying very nasty things to the president that you love, me, ” Mr. Trump said.
“ Ukrainian cities are disappearing. We continue to give billions of dollars to a deal-breaker: Mr. Zelensky. There is no deal he can make. You have a country that is being destroyed, that cannot be rebuilt, ” former President Trump stressed.
This can be considered Mr. Trump's clearest criticism of President Zelensky's handling of the conflict.
US continues military aid to Ukraine
The US Department of Defense recently announced an additional security assistance package for Ukraine with a total value of 375 million USD, including ammunition for the HIMARS system, 105 and 155 mm artillery shells, Javelin, AT-4 and TOW anti-tank missiles, mine-resistant armored vehicles and many other types of weapons and equipment.
The aid package was deployed under Presidential Availability Adjustment (PDA), a law that allows the US government to directly withdraw weapons from its stockpile to transfer to partners in an emergency without congressional approval.
According to the Pentagon, this is the 66th time the agency has withdrawn military equipment from its stockpile to transfer to Ukraine since August 2021. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken emphasized that the aid package will be deployed as quickly as possible.
Washington announced the aid package as the remaining nearly $6 billion in PDA funding for Kiev is set to expire at the end of September unless the US Congress renews its authority.
