The pair of snake mascots Kim Ty and Ngan Ty with sparkling beauty are set up on Nguyen Hue flower street, serving people to enjoy spring.
As a highlight of Ho Chi Minh City in welcoming the New Year, Nguyen Hue Flower Street for the Year of the Snake 2025 with the theme "Brocade and flower country, happy spring in peace" is elaborately and methodically decorated with three segments "Unity", "Transformation" and "Development", showing the historical stages of the Vietnamese people overcoming all hardships, sacrifices, and losses, still singing the song of solidarity to gain independence - unify the country - transform and develop sustainably.
In the days leading up to Tet, preparations and decorations at Nguyen Hue Flower Street are very urgent. The mascots of Nguyen Hue Flower Street for the Year of the Snake 2025 named Kim Ty and Ngan Ty have been placed in front of the Cay Lieu roundabout (intersection of Nguyen Hue - Le Loi).
The pair of snake mascots were meticulously and beautifully crafted by the artisans. Of which, Ngan Ty (female) is 25m long and Kim Ty (male) is 42m long. The entire body of Kim Ty and Ngan Ty curves 3 times, intertwining with each other, forming a base more than 11m wide. It is estimated that the height of the body part adjacent to the flower base to the top of the head is more than 6m.
In particular, Kim Ty and Ngan Ty have 70% environmentally friendly materials. The snake's head and belly are covered with painted pressed bamboo panels, the entire upper back is covered with reflective mirror mica scales, creating the shimmer of "gold" and "silver". The total number of scales on the body of Ngan Ty is about 2,700 pieces and Kim Ty is nearly 3,600 pieces, completely hand-attached with LED lights running along both sides of the belly.
In addition to the pair of snakes Kim Ty and Ngan Ty, the flower street also has nearly 90 Ty mascots with diverse colors and shapes, concentrated behind the welcome gate.
Many adorable "baby Ty" are decorated on the flower street, creating a joyful atmosphere in the miniature scenes "Ty going to the festival", "Ty accompanying"...
This year, the rice fields are presented differently from previous years. In particular, terraced fields and corn roofs, bright yellow roofs with roofs covered with dried corn cobs, interspersed with pillars decorated with brocade motifs create colorful accents that emphasize the love of the Vietnamese homeland.
Meanwhile, the "Spring Drops from the Earth" scene is also gradually taking shape. This scene gives an abstract look with its shape resembling both a honeycomb and a cave. The scene is inspired by a stalactite cave with thousands of thinly woven bamboo panels used as the ceiling and columns of the cave.
A lot of fresh flowers have been gathered at Nguyen Hue Flower Street. This year, the total number of flowers used for decoration is about 109,000 baskets.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (a resident of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) said that every year his family goes to Nguyen Hue Flower Street to stroll and take photos. Each year, this street is decorated according to a different theme, with unique and eye-catching miniatures, creating a colorful space for Tet. "We are really looking forward to the completion of the flower street to admire. The flower street is not only beautiful but also imbued with cultural identity," said Mr. Hai.
Many foreign tourist groups visiting the central area of Ho Chi Minh City also stopped to take souvenir photos with the pair of snakes Kim Ty and Ngan Ty at the flower street.
The 2025 Flower Street will start construction from 7:00 a.m. on November 9, 2024 to 12:00 p.m. on January 27, 2025 and will open to serve the spring travel and sightseeing needs of city residents and tourists from 7:00 p.m. on January 27 (the 28th day of the Lunar New Year) to 9:00 p.m. on February 2, 2025 (the 5th day of the Lunar New Year).
The unique project to welcome the Year of the Snake is chaired by Saigon Tourist Group, in coordination with departments, branches, and businesses, under the direction of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
In addition, this year's flower street continues to receive enthusiastic participation from Consulates General of the following countries: United States, Netherlands, Laos, Italy, Indonesia, Korea, Russia, China, Thailand, UK...
Currently, workers are busy completing the final tasks to prepare to open the flower street gate, welcoming people and tourists to experience.
