VIMC Seaport starts 2025 with strong offshore momentum

The first hours of 2025 witnessed an urgent and exciting working atmosphere at seaport enterprises under the Vietnam National Shipping Lines (VIMC). From North to South, seaports simultaneously held ceremonies to welcome the first shipments, signaling a promising new year and a strong spirit of going offshore.

At Tan Vu Port Branch, the first cargo code was exploited on the Visby ship of CMA – CGM shipping line. Total import and export volume reached 1617 containers.

At exactly 0:00 on January 1, 2025 - In the first moment of the new year, at three ports under Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company, including Tan Vu Port Branch, Chua Ve Port Branch and Hoang Dieu Port One Member Co., Ltd., the ceremony to welcome the first shipment of the year simultaneously took place. This is an annual traditional activity of Hai Phong Port to summarize the achievements of the old year and create motivation for a new year of enthusiastic production.

Chua Ve Port Branch welcomed the first container code exploited on the Phuc Hung ship of GLS shipping line. The ship is 112m long. Import and export output is 516 containers.

By the end of 2024, Hai Phong Port will achieve a total cargo throughput of up to 40 million tons, of which container cargo will reach nearly 2 million TEUs. Revenue will reach more than VND 2,900 billion, exceeding the plan by 26%. Notably, Tan Vu Port has achieved more than 1 million TEUs of container cargo for 4 consecutive years, while Hoang Dieu Port has achieved the highest output ever with 7.6 million tons, accounting for 78% of the general cargo market share. These figures continue to affirm Hai Phong Port's leading position in the Northern region.

Nanjing Express ship enters CICT port to load cargo

At Cai Lan International Container Terminal Company Limited (CICT), cargo loading and unloading activities took place bustlingly on the first day of the new year with nearly 154,000 tons of bulk cargo for 5 ships. To ensure the progress of releasing the ships as planned, CICT mobilized nearly 100 officers, workers, equipment and machinery.

Mr. Nguyen Giam Bien, Head of CICT's Loading and Unloading Shift, shared: "Although today is the New Year holiday, to ensure the progress of exploitation, the company still arranges enough human resources and equipment to release the ship as planned and welcome incoming ships. To limit the spillage of goods into the sea, the unit has arranged tarpaulin barriers from the ship's side to the wharf, ensuring environmental safety." In 2024, CICT has achieved remarkable successes with about 7 million tons of bulk cargo passing through the port, an increase of nearly 10% compared to the plan. In 2025, the unit aims to reach more than 6 million tons of bulk cargo, a 10-15% increase in revenue compared to 2024.

Nghe Tinh Port starts production at the beginning of the year

In the Central region, Nghe Tinh Port Joint Stock Company held a ceremony to launch the first cargo handling program in 2025. In an atmosphere of excitement and determination, all officers and workers of the company worked towards the goal of achieving a cargo throughput of 4.6 million tons this year.

On the first day of the new year 2025, at wharf No. 4, Cua Lo Port welcomed the first two ships: the 13,000-ton Jiali Panama ship of Dong Duong Company and the 14,000-ton Chang xia ship of Mekong Company. These two ships docked to load and unload bags of potassium, preparing to transport to China. Looking back at 2024, Nghe Tinh Port has achieved encouraging achievements with more than 700 ships coming in and out, all of which were cleared on schedule and ahead of schedule. The total volume of goods passing through the port reached over 4.3 million tons, equivalent to 100.39% of the yearly plan, bringing in revenue of over 200 billion VND. Following this success, in 2025, Nghe Tinh Port Joint Stock Company aims to reach over 4.6 million tons of goods passing through the port, with expected revenue of about 215 billion VND.

Tien Sa Port is expected to welcome 76 ships, with an estimated number of visitors reaching more than 70,000. 2024 is a challenging year but also a year of proud achievements for Da Nang Port, the total cargo throughput through the port is expected to reach nearly 14 million tons, an increase of 14.4% over the same period, of which container goods will reach 755,000 Teus, an increase of nearly 12% over the same period in 2023. Revenue is expected to reach nearly 1,500 billion VND, an increase of nearly 15% over the same period; pre-tax profit will reach 380 billion VND, an increase of nearly 9% compared to 2023. In 2024, Da Nang Port will continue to receive the title of "Outstanding Enterprise for Workers" for 7 consecutive years; For 8 consecutive years, the company has been ranked in the Top 500 most profitable enterprises in Vietnam; continued to be in the Top 1,000 largest tax-paying enterprises in Vietnam, Top 7 largest tax-paying enterprises in Da Nang City; Top 100 sustainable enterprises and Top 10 prestigious logistics companies in 2024 announced by Vietnam Report.
