The two competition categories are Genesis GS210 gasoline engine, 7HP, composite hull length 5.9m, AB stainless steel propeller and Genesis GS420 gasoline engine, 15HP, composite hull length 5.9m, AB stainless steel propeller.
Hosts Can Tho and Ca Mau showed their superiority when easily overcoming other opponents from 4 localities: Hau Giang, Kien Giang, Ho Chi Minh City , Long An.
Accordingly, in the 7HP gasoline engine category, Ca Mau won all the prizes with the first prize going to Nguyen Tri Dien (Dam Doi District), the second prize going to Le Van Phuoc (Dam Doi District), the third prize going to Nguyen Ngoc Duong (Ngoc Hien District), the fourth prize going to Nguyen Chi Linh (Ngoc Hien District). Thereby, they received the prize money of 40 million VND, 20 million VND, 10 million VND, 5 million VND for the first, second, third and fourth prizes respectively.
Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, awarded the 7HP gasoline engine prize to 4 athletes all from Ca Mau.
Meanwhile, at home, Can Tho athletes performed excellently and won 3 prizes in the 15HP gasoline engine category, including: First prize (Phan Duy Linh, Phong Dien District), third prize (Le Van Hau, Binh Thuy District) and fourth prize (Le Thanh Nam, Binh Thuy District). The second prize in this category belonged to Tran Van Ngoan from Kien Giang.
In this category, the prize structure is 20 million VND, 10 million VND, 5 million VND and 3 million VND for first, second, third and fourth prizes respectively.
In addition to the second prize, the remaining 3 rankings in the 15HP gasoline engine category all belonged to Can Tho.
Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho, said that the Can Tho City Composite Yacht Championship is a grassroots event, held annually since 2015. Although it has not been upgraded to a professional tournament, people are very interested because it represents the characteristics of the Mekong Delta. "The Department is aiming to upgrade the composite boat racing to a professional level so that the competitions become more attractive," said Mr. Viet.
