However, despite the completion of the upgrade in December 2024, nearly 3 months later, passenger cars still cannot cross the bridge due to the lack of official announcement on the tonnage. This delay has caused many inconveniences, affecting traffic, economy and tourism in the area.
Pac Ngoi suspension bridge was damaged and seriously degraded before being upgraded, making it impossible for many large passenger vehicles to pass, affecting tourism activities and people's lives. Therefore, the bridge upgrade project with an initial total investment of 39.3 billion VND is expected to overcome this situation.
However, despite being completed by the end of 2024, the bridge's official load capacity has yet to be announced, causing passenger vehicles with more than 9 seats to still be banned from traffic. The reason is known to be that the bridge's load assessment procedure has not been completed.
The activities of travel agencies here have been reduced because tourists have to transfer via small vehicles, increasing costs and causing frustration. Service businesses in Pac Ngoi and Bo Lu villages, and the area around Ba Be Lake, have expressed concern about this situation.

Mr. Dong Van Hoan, a tourism business owner, said: "People are really looking forward to large passenger buses crossing the bridge, because currently large groups of tourists coming here still have to change buses, which is very time-consuming and inconvenient."
In fact, although the contractor has completed the construction, they still have to put up signs prohibiting cars with 9 seats or more at both ends of the bridge. However, according to observations, 16-seat passenger vans still pass through here even though they are not allowed.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Hau, Deputy Director of the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, said: “We are continuing to urge the load assessment unit to soon announce the results. In March 2025, the load of this bridge will be officially determined.”
Determining and announcing the weight of Pac Ngoi suspension bridge is not only the final step in the process of upgrading the bridge but also ensures the rights of people, businesses and tourists. Only when the weight is made public, can passenger cars circulate, contributing to promoting economic development and tourism in the Ba Be Lake area./.
