" At the recent Asian Championship, I was a bit sorry that our physical strength was not as good as expected. If we had prepared better, we would have improved this. However, this was unavoidable because the tournaments took place consecutively in a short period of time. We could not accumulate much physical strength. Otherwise, the team's performance could have been better ," coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet shared about the journey of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at the 2023 Asian Championship.
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team finished the tournament in Thailand in fourth place. The team made a strong impression on fans by defeating South Korea in the group stage and making things difficult for Japan in the third-place match. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team returned home on the afternoon of September 7.
However, the team only rested for a few days before entering the 19th ASIAD.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Kiet said: " Next Monday, the team will practice again because ASIAD is very close. We will try to get the best ranking when we are in the same group with Korea and Nepal . The team aims to enter the round of 8. With the format of the tournament, if we play with concentration and luck, we can enter the round of 4. "
The coach of the Vietnam volleyball team revealed that Thanh Thuy will participate in the 19th ASIAD. On September 18, this key player will return to Vietnam to join his teammates.
With the success of the Vietnamese volleyball team at the Asian championship, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation awarded the team 100 million VND.
Mr. Tran Duc Phan - Vice President of Vietnam Volleyball Federation - awarded the team right at the airport. A sponsor was also present and awarded a similar amount.
