Renovation of 4 Northern railway stations completed in October

Regarding the progress of the project to renovate stations on the Northern railway lines, a representative of the Railway Project Management Board said: The station works are basically meeting the schedule.

Notably, the four stations of Gia Lam, Cam Giang, Hai Duong, and Lang Son are expected to complete the main items in October 2023.

Specifically, Gia Lam station has completed the renovation of the existing station; is constructing and installing the platform canopy; has completed the renovation of the upper floors of railways No. 1 and No. 3; is constructing the renovation of the upper floors of railway No. 2, the drainage system and renovating and upgrading the platform according to low platform standards.

Cam Giang Station has completed the renovation of the existing station, intermediate platform roof; is constructing the basic platform roof and new toilets, fences; has completed the renovation of the architecture of the upper floors of the railways in the station, and the drainage system.

Hai Duong Station has completed the construction of platform roofs; basically completed the renovation of the upper floors of the railways in the station and the drainage system.

Lang Son Station is constructing and installing a new warehouse and other related items such as lighting and fire prevention.

For the remaining two stations, Dong Dang (Lang Son) and Xuan Giao (Lao Cai), the Railway Project Management Board said it is still waiting for land to complete some items.

Of which, Dong Dang station has basically completed the construction of a new two-storey operating building and a reinforced concrete container yard, is completing the renovation of a warehouse and building a new warehouse; is implementing the construction of a new yard and renovating an existing yard...

Dong Dang Station has basically completed the construction of a new two-story operating building and a reinforced concrete cargo yard, but there are still some projects that cannot be implemented because the locality has not completed the site clearance work.

At Xuan Giao station, the construction of a new station, warehouse, and cargo yard in sync with the cargo yard and loading and unloading road has not yet been implemented because it is waiting for local land acquisition. For the railway section, the architectural renovation of the upper floor of the current road No. 1 has been completed. The cargo yard and internal roads have not yet been implemented because they are waiting for local land acquisition...

At the Vat Cach station renovation construction package, the Railway Project Management Board said that the construction implementation basically met the schedule.

Accordingly, the railway section is under construction to treat the weak soil of newly designed lines 7 and 8; the new design of railway tracks 1 and 2 and the railway section connecting the station to the port. The architectural section is under construction to build a new Vat Cach station. Vat Cach port station (classification station), the railway section is under construction to renovate the railways in the Vat Cach port area, build two new railways in the classification station and a drainage system.

According to the Railway Project Management Board, the project is being implemented in many provinces and cities with the main construction volume concentrated at three freight stations: Dong Dang, Xuan Giao and Vat Cach, all of which must carry out site clearance work. This is also the main obstacle of the project.

The Project to Renovate Stations on Northern Railway Lines was approved for investment by the Ministry of Transport in 2022 with the goal of improving the quality of infrastructure and railway transport services; Creating favorable conditions for attracting passengers and goods, in order to increase transport market share, effectively exploit existing railways; Gradually improve the competitiveness of railway transport.

The project will renovate and upgrade 3 passenger stations: Gia Lam, Cam Giang, Hai Duong on the Hanoi - Hai Phong route; 4 cargo stations: Vat Cach station, Vat Cach port (Gia Lam - Hai Phong route); Dong Dang station and Lang Son station (Hanoi - Dong Dang route); Xuan Giao station (Yen Vien - Lao Cai route).

The project has a total investment of VND 470 billion, using state budget capital in the medium-term public investment plan for the 2021-2025 period.
