Binh Duong continues to develop tours to visit craft villages combined with eco-tourism and community tourism routes to develop tourism associated with conservation.
The question and answer session of the 19th session of the People's Council of Binh Duong province, term X, on the morning of December 10, had content related to the tourism sector. Here, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quang (Thuan An City Delegation) said that the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 113/KH-UBND dated January 11, 2023 to implement the Binh Duong Tourism Development Project to 2025, with a vision to 2030.
Mr. Thanh Quang asked Mr. Bui Huu Toan - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism: "Up to now, what contents of the project have been implemented? And to complete the project implementation plan, what solutions need to be focused on in the coming time?".
Responding to questions from delegates, Mr. Bui Huu Toan said that the Binh Duong Tourism Development Project to 2025, with a vision to 2030, identifies 8 groups of tasks and solutions for tourism development.
Up to now, the Department has implemented the project for nearly 3 years and achieved some initial results. In particular, the most prominent is the innovation in awareness and tourism development thinking of people, communities, and businesses in civilized and friendly behavior towards tourists, protecting the tourism environment, ensuring the quality of tourism services and implementing the construction of Binh Duong tourism brand.
Focus on digital transformation of tourism industry
Mr. Toan said that the department is currently reviewing and perfecting policies to support tourism development with 6 groups of policies to support investment in hotel construction projects; support investment in new construction or upgrading and renovating types of housing with rooms for tourists to rent (homestay); build models of fruit gardens, traditional craft production facilities combined with tourism business; support traditional craft production facilities combined with tourism business; develop tourism human resources and participate in domestic and international tourism promotion programs.
At the same time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong province has been promoting the implementation of tourism information and promotion programs, introducing the image of Binh Duong tourism; focusing on developing infrastructure and technical facilities for tourism; training tourism human resources, developing tourism products, etc.
Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong province said that the department will continue to disseminate digital platforms in the tourism sector to tourism service businesses to promote the digital transformation process, as well as contribute to building a digital database system in the tourism sector. At the same time, the department will promote the application of 4.0 technology in tourism management, operation and promotion; build smart tourism tour guide applications.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong province continues to call on economic sectors to participate in investing in waterway transport infrastructure and passenger terminals to serve the development of riverside tourism routes. The province will also promote cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces such as Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh to build effective linked tours and tourist routes...
Exploiting tours and experiencing traditional craft villages
Binh Duong has 66 ranked relics (including 13 national relics and 53 provincial relics), 1 provincial museum and 1 private museum (Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine - Fito Museum), 1 Minh Long Ceramics Museum I (in the process of completing the application for an operating license). In addition, there are 9 traditional crafts. Of which, the lacquer craft in Tuong Binh Hiep ward, Thu Dau Mot city and "Binh Duong Pottery" have been recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as "National Intangible Cultural Heritage".
In recent years, Binh Duong tourism industry has taken advantage of the advantages of craft villages to exploit the type of sightseeing and practical experience at handicraft production facilities to serve tourists; at the same time, traditional craft villages are also linked with tourist attractions to visit and combine shopping.
To promote the traditional values of these tourism products, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong province will continue to coordinate with relevant units to speed up the implementation of the project to preserve and develop Tuong Binh Hiep Lacquer Village, combining tourism to form a tourist destination to visit, learn about the product production process, experience the profession and buy products as souvenirs.
In parallel, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will develop tours to visit craft villages combined with eco-tourism routes, community tourism routes and other tourist routes; cooperate with travel companies inside and outside the province to develop experiential tours for tourists to participate in the production process of traditional products where tourists can design and create handicrafts and fine arts products based on traditional craft villages such as ceramics, lacquer, wood carving, making clay pigs, making clogs, etc.
At the same time, the Department strengthens propaganda, introduction and promotion of images of traditional occupations and craft villages through mass media at events, tourism fairs, tourism magazines and tourism publications. The Department also organizes training, coaching, and fostering of knowledge and soft skills for tourism for owners and workers in traditional craft villages.
