On the morning of January 24, three key players of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club, including goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh, defender Tran Thi Thu and midfielder Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, met with leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, Thong Nhat Sports Center and District 1 Sports Center.
At the meeting, the national players presented their thoughts and aspirations to the city leaders, including Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Nam Nhan and Director of the Thong Nhat Sports Center Tran Dinh Huan.
After nearly an hour of sharing in an open and receptive spirit, the players once again affirmed their final wish to leave to seek new challenges. In response, after understanding the players’ thoughts, the city leaders also pledged to support them in completing the necessary procedures.
A player said: "The meeting between us and the management unit this morning went very well. We shared all our thoughts and wishes, expressing our desire to leave to seek new challenges.
We are very grateful that the leadership has listened attentively to our wishes and desires. We are truly grateful that our desire to leave has been facilitated comfortably, without any obstruction.
We really appreciate the time we played and contributed to the HCM City Women's Club. It was a very beautiful and special memory that will definitely be unforgettable in the lives of us female players.
At this point, we want to find a new challenge. Coming to a new environment may be more challenging, but that is our choice. We will miss the Ho Chi Minh City women's team and our teammates very much. We want to test ourselves without blaming anyone. All we have to say is thank you and be grateful."
For his part, a Ho Chi Minh City sports official shared: "The meeting took place in a very positive atmosphere. When explained, the players clearly understood the efforts and respect of the city's sports leaders for Ho Chi Minh City women's football.
The city's sports leaders affirmed that they will meet all financial requirements for salaries and "kickbacks" for each position. However, in the conversation, the players also shared their desire to seek new challenges in a new environment.
It is a legitimate wish when players want to challenge themselves at a new team. We have sent our thanks, wished them luck and committed to supporting the players to complete the necessary procedures to transfer to the new team."
