On April 5, a clip appeared on social media recording the ugly actions of a man selling noodles, making netizens both disappointed and horrified.
The noodle seller reuses a used bowl, without washing it, to sell to new customers (Photo cut from clip: ).
According to the clip, the man furtively looked around and quickly poured the leftovers from the customer's bowl of noodles into a yellow bin placed behind the corner of an electric pole on the sidewalk, then piled it on top of the bowls stacked on the cart.
In succession, other used bowls of noodles also went through the process of emptying the excess water and reusing. Once, the man used a towel to stir the bowl around, wiped off the excess ingredients, and then turned it upside down in the bowl basket.
During the recording of this scene, the owner of the clip kept exclaiming: "The bowl (was) poured out with broth and then wiped, L., so disgusting! After wiping, they put it in the basket. There are bowls that haven't been wiped yet but are still left there. There have been several bowls so far."
Verification, this noodle cart is located in front of an alley on Phan Van Hon street, Tan Thoi Nhat ward, district 12, HCMC.
The video "exposing" the man selling unhygienic noodles attracted hundreds of thousands of views and thousands of interactions, most of which expressed outrage. Many people were outraged and said they could not accept this action. Some other opinions said that the owner of the clip should advise and warn the man selling noodles, instead of posting it on social networks.
"I usually eat at street stalls, but after watching this clip, I think I'll have to… limit myself. Why do you do business without conscience like this?", commented an NHS account.
"I hope the government will step in to ensure food safety and hygiene for the people. Even though it is a roadside restaurant, not cleaning bowls and plates is unacceptable," CP account was indignant.
