20 My Tho noodle shops will be judged by chefs

Chefs from the Vietnam Chefs Association will score noodle shops in My Tho starting today, and announce them next week.

Specifically, based on the criteria for evaluating My Tho noodles, chefs from the Vietnam Chefs Association (Vietnam Tourism Association) will rate noodle shops in My Tho City, Tien Giang Province from today (December 20), and will announce it next week.

The information was just announced by Mr. Dang Huu Loc - Head of the Department of Culture and Information of My Tho City, Tien Giang Province, on December 20.

Mr. Loc added that there were about 18 - 20 famous noodle shops in My Tho city selected for scoring.

Highly rated and quality noodle shops will be honored at the 345th anniversary celebration of My Tho city, scheduled to be held from December 27 to 31.

According to Mr. Loc, the purpose of the contest is to promote and honor the brand "My Tho noodles" as a typical delicacy of the city, honoring the noodle making village which is a traditional profession in My Phong commune, My Tho city, Tien Giang province.

"In addition, through this scoring of noodle shops, the local government also wants to build the My Tho noodle brand as a unique culinary culture feature, contributing to the formation of local tourism products.

Through this, we also gradually form periodic activities to maintain the form and quality of the recognized and honored noodle shops and businesses," said Mr. Loc.

The evaluation and honoring will be guaranteed to be objective, fair and transparent.

There is coordination between state agencies, professional social organizations and food service establishments in My Tho city.

The My Tho noodle contest is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 345th anniversary of My Tho city, welcome the new year 2025, and promote and develop tourism in My Tho city.

In addition, the celebration also has many other activities such as the "Historical Singing" contest; orchid contest and display; book fair; My Tho city's expanded martial arts festival; exchange performances of amateur music, excerpts from reformed opera; acoustic music; singing together; contest to display and decorate My Tho miniature landscapes past and present; children's fashion show...

Especially in the series of activities to promote the brand "My Tho noodle soup" combined with walking street activities, the Department of Culture and Information of My Tho City will coordinate with Tuoi Tre newspaper to show a documentary about My Tho noodle soup.
