Ha Giang Newspaper celebrates 60 years since its first issue

On the morning of April 10, Ha Giang Newspaper solemnly held the 60th anniversary celebration of Ha Giang Newspaper's founding and published its first issue (April 13, 1964 - April 13, 2024).

Attending the ceremony, from the Central agencies and local Party newspapers, there were comrade Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Luu Dinh Phuc, Director of the Press Department, Ministry of Information and Communications; and leaders of provincial Party newspapers.

On the side of Ha Giang province, there were comrades: Nguyen Manh Dung, acting Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee; former leaders of the province, leaders of Ha Tuyen Newspaper, Ha Giang Newspaper through the periods; leaders of departments, branches and sectors of Ha Giang province.

Provincial leaders presented a flower basket to congratulate Ha Giang Newspaper on its founding anniversary.

The 60th anniversary of the establishment of Ha Giang Newspaper and the day Ha Giang Newspaper published its first issue (April 13, 1964 - April 13, 2024) is an opportunity for Ha Giang Newspaper staff to review the glorious tradition of Ha Giang Newspaper - the mouthpiece of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee.

The speech at the ceremony by comrade Nguyen Trung Thu, Editor-in-Chief of Ha Giang Newspaper emphasized: From the Ha Giang Newsletter, which was born at the end of 1951, to have timely information about the leadership of the Party Committee, the provincial government and the activities taking place in the area - focusing on the Viet Bac resistance base and the whole country to fight against French colonialism, on April 13, 1964, the Standing Committee of Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 11-NQ/TU to establish the Newspaper of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Workers' Party of Ha Giang province, named Ha Giang Newspaper.

Comrade Nguyen Trung Thu, Editor-in-Chief of Ha Giang Newspaper, read a speech reviewing the 60th anniversary of the first issue of Ha Giang Newspaper.

Since the historic date of April 13, 1964, Ha Giang Newspaper has gradually developed along with the development of Ha Giang. In 1976, it merged with Tuyen Quang Newspaper to create Ha Tuyen Newspaper - the voice of the Party Committee, government and people of Ha Tuyen; this was also the period when Ha Tuyen joined hands with the whole country to protect the border and build the country. In 1991, Ha Tuyen was divided into two provinces, Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang, from here a new journey began. The editorial office of Ha Giang Newspaper was consolidated and rebuilt from 8 staff and reporters divided from Ha Tuyen Newspaper. After the division, Ha Giang Newspaper started with 1 issue/week, gradually upgraded and now has 5 issues/week along with Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper updated 24/24 hours; the photo newspaper of the northernmost highlands of Ha Giang is published monthly.

Looking back on the journey of 60 years of dedication, Ha Giang Newspaper is proud to affirm its role as a "soldier" on the ideological and cultural front, actively contributing to the successful implementation of the goals and targets of the resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels, serving well the political tasks of the Party Committee and the People of Ha Giang province. The team of reporters and editors of Ha Giang Newspaper always uphold the awareness of cultivating political theory, training their mettle, preserving the moral qualities and working style of Party journalists, in any circumstances, striving to have "bright minds, pure hearts, sharp pens", actively fighting and criticizing negative manifestations, contributing to building a new cultural life; promptly discovering and praising typical advanced examples, initiatives, and good practices in labor and production emulation movements.

In particular, Ha Giang Newspaper has made important contributions to the work of encouraging and mobilizing human and material resources to join the whole country in achieving victory in the fight against American imperialism, liberating the South and unifying the country, and the fight to protect the northern border of the Fatherland.

With outstanding achievements in each historical period, Ha Giang Newspaper has been honored to receive many medals, honors and other noble awards from the Party and State, Central ministries, departments, branches and the Party Committee and government of Ha Giang province.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association highly appreciated the achievements, especially the spirit of overcoming difficulties, learning and innovation of the Ha Giang journalism team.

Comrade Le Quoc Minh emphasized: Faced with opportunities and challenges, Ha Giang Newspaper needs to quickly innovate to continue affirming its position, including paying attention to improving the quality of journalistic works; competing with the press nationwide to make efforts and actively transform digitally to keep up with the development trend of journalism; promoting the development of works and types of journalism in the direction of multimedia, meeting the requirements of the task.

Acting Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Manh Dung presented the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to Ha Giang Newspaper.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Acting Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Manh Dung acknowledged and congratulated the new developments of Ha Giang Newspaper over the past 60 years, and at the same time believed in the working spirit, determination to innovate, integrate, and build an increasingly professional, modern press agency, keeping up with the development trend of the collective leadership, reporters, and editors of Ha Giang Newspaper today. In particular, in the new period, Ha Giang Newspaper needs to perform well the role of the press agency of the Provincial Party Committee, promptly providing information capable of guiding and leading public opinion, creating social consensus, especially in the current situation where information on social networks is creating complex problems.
