On December 6, in Can Tho City, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association held a conference on "High-quality journalism in the context of digital transformation to meet new requirements of the National Press Awards charter and promote the task of sustainable development in the Southern region".

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association - emphasized that through journalistic activities, the team of journalists in the Southern region has gradually matured in political capacity and professional ethics; constantly improved their professional qualifications and skills; promptly, honestly and objectively reflected all aspects of political activities, economic, cultural and social life, contributing to creating consensus in society, strengthening people's trust in the leadership of the Party and State.
"The Vietnam Journalists Association has been, is and will always be loyal to its principles and purposes, representing the ownership, aspirations and legitimate interests of Vietnamese journalists, contributing to building the Vietnamese press to truly be the voice of the Party, the State and the forum of the people," Mr. Loi affirmed.
The leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association requested the delegates attending the conference to promote a constructive spirit, actively discuss and contribute ideas. In particular, focusing on clarifying the role and tasks of the press in propagating the task of sustainable development of the country. From there, propose and recommend stronger solutions in digital transformation of the press, developing diverse digital press products in the current digital ecosystem.

Also at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu - Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee - said that Can Tho has 71 agencies and representative offices of press agencies operating, with more than 1,000 staff, reporters and editors.

We hope that in the coming time, the press in the Southern region in particular and the press in the whole country in general will promote the development of multi-platform, multi-service, multimedia press products; apply big data, artificial intelligence, and smart intelligence in press and media activities," said Mr. Hieu.
Many new points in the national press award
In addition to presentations on the development trends of revolutionary journalism, the conference also introduced new points of the revised National Press Award regulations in 2024; procedures and regulations in evaluating and selecting high-quality press works to participate in the National Press Award.
Specifically, the Press Awards regulations have many new points, especially the two new award groups: "Multimedia Press Awards" and "Creative Press Awards". The above additions demonstrate the proactive adherence to the new viewpoints and policies of the Party and State, in line with the reality and general development trends of the press and media.
In that spirit, the conference aims to introduce and share new points of the revised National Press Awards Charter in 2024; experiences in applying digital transformation to create high-quality press works, as well as necessary content to promote the task of sustainable development in the Southern region in particular and the whole country in general.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, the revised regulations of the National Press Awards in 2024 are an important milestone, demonstrating consistency with the strong progress of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism in the development process of world journalism.
This charter sets higher requirements for the quality of journalistic works, requiring members, reporters and journalists to constantly improve their professional qualifications, creativity and innovation.
On the same afternoon, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association also held a conference to disseminate the Party's guidelines and the State's laws and policies on the association and improve the quality of consultation in the office work of the Southern Journalists Association.
Delegates attending the conference were also informed and thoroughly grasped the Party's new guidelines, the State's policies and laws related to the organization of associations such as: Decision No. 118-QD/TW of the Secretariat on promulgating the regulations on the organization and operation of mass associations assigned by the Party and the State at the Central level; Decree No. 126/2024/ND-CP of the Government regulating the organization, operation and management of associations.
Especially the Party's policies and the State's policies on the process of assigning tasks, financial support or policies and regimes for people working at associations assigned tasks by the Party and the State at the central and local levels.
