Reporter: The management of press activities in Thanh Hoa province has had many positive changes in recent times. Could you please tell us some of the results achieved?
Comrade Do Huu Quyet: In 2023 and the first 6 months of 2024, press activities in Thanh Hoa province continued to have positive, clear and comprehensive changes in all fields. Leadership, direction and orientation were given timely attention, State management of the press was strengthened, strict, strict and effective. The provincial press agencies, representative offices, and resident reporters of the central press and other provinces and cities located in the area have made many innovations, strictly complied with legal regulations, closely followed the principles and purposes of operation; proactively and promptly grasped information, propagated, and comprehensively reflected current events, politics, economics, society, national defense, security, and Party building in the province. In particular, actively informing and propagating to spread the resolutions of Party committees at all levels into life, creating trust and consensus among all classes of people in organizing and performing tasks; At the same time, it performs well the function of orienting public opinion, fighting against bad, toxic and untrue information. Discovering, praising and widely encouraging typical examples, good people and good deeds; promoting the image, cultural values, and revolutionary historical traditions of Thanh Hoa land and people to domestic and international friends, creating a spread and consensus among all classes of people...
The direction of handling published press information has been strengthened and timely. The verification of information and measures to resolve the content raised by the press have been carried out strictly and seriously, overcoming the situation of prolonged press reporting that has heated up public opinion.
Press releases and information provision have been enhanced, proactively and promptly, basically meeting the requirements of press agencies. The verification of information before posting and broadcasting is strictly implemented by press agencies in accordance with regulations, minimizing one-sided, speculative and untrue reporting. Thereby creating stability in society, and being the main information flow guiding public opinion among all classes of people.
The work of reviewing, inspecting and evaluating the implementation of legal regulations in press activities for representative offices and resident reporters in the area is carried out regularly. Strengthening the coordination of press management activities at the grassroots level to promptly detect, prevent and handle manifestations and acts of violating the Press Law and legal regulations; at the same time, the Department of Information and Communications (MIC) has issued many documents to rectify and request explanations for signs of violations in press activities. Thanks to that, the situation of reporters and collaborators working in violation of regulations, especially impersonating the press for personal gain, has been limited.
In addition, the work of inspection, examination, settlement of complaints and denunciations; handling of violations in press activities was also carried out very seriously. 37 organizations and individuals were discovered, inspected and handled; 1 electronic magazine was handled for violating the law by publishing false information; 1 general electronic information site was operated without a license.
PV: The story of Digital Transformation (DT) in journalism has been and is being strongly and actively implemented by the information and communication industry and press agencies. As a press management agency, accelerating and synchronizing the DI process is extremely necessary. What are the directions of the Department of Information and Communications, sir?
Comrade Do Huu Quyet: With a strategic vision and development orientation that keeps up with the trend of the times; in Decision No. 348/QD-TTg dated April 6, 2023 of the Prime Minister approving the Strategy "Innovation of journalism to 2025, orientation to 2030", the goal is clearly stated that by 2030, 100% of press agencies will put content on digital platforms (prioritizing domestic digital platforms). 90% of press agencies use centralized data analysis and processing platforms, applying artificial intelligence to optimize operations. 100% of press agencies operate and operate a converged newsroom model and models suitable for the development of advanced science and technology in the world, producing content according to digital journalism trends. And press agencies optimize revenue sources, of which 50% of press agencies increase revenue by at least 20%.
Pursuant to Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU dated November 10, 2021 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on Digital Transformation of Thanh Hoa province to 2025, with a vision to 2030, based on Decision No. 348/QD-TTg dated April 6, 2023 of the Prime Minister on approving the Strategy "Digital Transformation of Journalism to 2025, with a vision to 2030", the Department of Information and Communications has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue Plan 246/KH-UBND dated October 16, 2023 on implementing the strategy for digital transformation of journalism to 2025 with a vision to 2030 in Thanh Hoa province. Along with creating mechanisms, in recent times, with the attention and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, the province's press agencies have been invested in relatively synchronous and modern facilities and equipment, and human resource training to meet the requirements of information and propaganda tasks in the period of industrialization and modernization.
Implementing digital transformation, press agencies such as Thanh Hoa Newspaper, Provincial Radio and Television Station have achieved many results and strive to bring content to digital platforms by 2025, using centralized data analysis and processing platforms, applying artificial intelligence to optimize operations; having solutions to ensure safety and security of information systems at level 3 or higher; operating a converged newsroom model; developing local multimedia media agencies.
Reporter: Thanh Hoa is a locality with many representative offices located in the area, along with resident reporters. Could you please tell us what conditions and support the province has provided to help the offices complete their assigned tasks well?
Comrade Do Huu Quyet: Thanh Hoa province currently has 25 representative offices and 30 resident reporters of the Central Press in Thanh Hoa. In recent years, Thanh Hoa province has always paid attention to and created all conditions for press reporters to operate in the best way, in accordance with the provisions of law such as: supporting workplaces, providing accurate and timely information to press agencies; receiving and working with press reporters when needed, creating conditions for press reporters to work... thereby publishing over 10,000 news, articles, and photos annually to promote and reflect on Thanh Hoa in all areas of social life; focusing on promoting important political, cultural, and diplomatic events of the province, promoting the image of Thanh Hoa province's dynamic and sustainable development; on potentials, advantages, mechanisms, and policies to attract investment, on leadership, direction, and administration of Party committees and authorities; on the results of the half-term implementation of the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2020-2025 term; outstanding results in socio-economic development in 2023 and the first months of 2024 of sectors and levels in the province. Information and promotion of traditional historical and cultural values, new rural construction, civilized urban areas, social security activities, personnel work, poverty reduction, tourism activities; investment attraction, quality of key education, high-performance sports; typical models and examples in social life... In addition, the press also discovered and reflected the limitations, shortcomings and outstanding issues in localities and units in the province, such as: in land management, forest management, mineral resource exploitation, environmental pollution, illegal construction, internet fraud crimes... helping provincial leaders have information to direct inspection, verification and timely resolution, contributing to stabilizing the situation.
In order to better serve the task of information and propaganda about the province, every year, the Department of Information and Communications coordinates with the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department to issue a Key Plan to guide provincial press agencies, representative offices, and resident reporters to propagate about Thanh Hoa province; The Department of Information and Communications has advised the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee to issue Decision No. 1950/QD-UBND dated June 8, 2021 on approving the Information and Communication Project of Thanh Hoa province for the period 2021-2025; Plan No. 232/KH-UBND dated September 25, 2023 of the Provincial People's Committee to implement Directive No. 07/CT-TTg dated March 21, 2023 of the Prime Minister on strengthening policy communication work dated September 25, 2023, helping to focus and focus propaganda every year.

Faced with intertwined advantages, difficulties and challenges, together with the press nationwide, press agencies, the team of journalists and agencies directing, guiding and managing the press in the province need to fully and comprehensively identify the development trends according to the Party's orientations to direct and guide press agencies to promote the results of 2023, continue to make efforts, innovate, be creative, and be more determined to do a good job of communication work, especially policy communication work, actively contributing to encouraging cadres, party members and people of all walks of life in the province to successfully implement the goals and tasks of 2024.
2025 is a year with many major events for the country and the province, in which the Party congresses at all levels are important political events and this is also the year to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), affirming that the press has developed and has an indispensable position in social life over the past century. Under the leadership of the Party and the management of the State, the press system has constantly innovated and developed strongly, meeting the increasing information needs of society; always affirming that press information is the main information stream in orienting public opinion in the current context of globalization and digitalization.
