(NLDO) - General, Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang requested the General Department of Logistics and Engineering to continue to arrange and research to well perform assigned tasks.


On the afternoon of February 10, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense held a conference to hand over the General Department of Logistics to the General Department of Logistics and Engineering. Attending the conference were Senior General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.

Speaking at the conference, Senior General Phan Van Giang said that during the past term, the Army Logistics and Engineering sector has proposed to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense many measures to ensure the work according to the sector's tasks. The results achieved are commendable and worthy of reward.

Agreeing with the contents of the handover at the Conference, General Phan Van Giang requested the General Department of Logistics and Engineering to continue to arrange, research, and develop detailed plans to effectively carry out assigned tasks.

In addition, the Minister of National Defense noted that the General Department of Logistics and Engineering needs to unify and strictly maintain combat readiness, ensuring good functions and tasks. The General Department needs to direct the implementation of political and ideological education as well as ensure the Party's leadership principles, paying special attention to the principle of democratic centralism to well organize Party congresses at all levels. "It is absolutely necessary to strengthen solidarity and unity".

In addition, the Minister of National Defense requested the Logistics-Technical sector to strengthen research and propose scientific and technical contents to ensure the lives and weapons and equipment for soldiers; constantly promote the 75-year tradition of the Logistics sector and the 51-year tradition of the Technical sector, truly "diligent, thrifty, honest, upright, impartial and selfless", and well implement the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh: "The supply cadre is like the mother and sister of the private soldier".

Receiving the opinions of the Minister of National Defense, Lieutenant General Tran Minh Duc, Director of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering, received all the handover contents from the General Department of Logistics to the General Department of Logistics and Engineering; at the same time, thoroughly grasped the 6 contents of the assignment of tasks at the Ceremony to announce the merger of the two general departments and receive the Quyet Thang Military Flag (taking place on February 5, 2025) and the direction of Minister Phan Van Giang at this handover conference.

Lieutenant General Tran Minh Duc affirmed that the merger of the two general departments: Logistics and Engineering and reorganization into the General Department of Logistics and Engineering is a major policy, marking the development, maturity and growth of the Army; demonstrating the thinking, strategic vision and correct decisions of the Politburo, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense towards the cause of building the Army.

The Director of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering emphasized that in the coming time, the officers, employees, soldiers and workers of the General Department will continue to promote the good traditions of the two previous General Departments; unite, unite, work together, overcome difficulties; quickly perfect the organization, operate the apparatus smoothly and rhythmically, absolutely not let the merger interrupt or affect the quality and progress of performing tasks; not let there be any petitions or questions; ensure that after the merger, the quality of work will be better and more effective...
