Mr. Thai Hoang Vu - Chairman of Bac Tra My District People's Committee said that, implementing the Resolution of the Third Congress - 2019, in recent times, Bac Tra My has focused on caring for and improving the lives of people in ethnic minority areas in the area.
Typically, in current cultural preservation, all ethnic minority villages have gong teams. Every month, activities on the walking street in the town are carried out by ethnic minorities from each commune to preserve and promote unique cultural values.
“All villages have been and are being invested in cultural houses with designs that are typical of ethnic minority areas, combined with disaster prevention functions.
“New schools have been invested in, and the transportation system to the villages is guaranteed. People’s lives have been improved, specifically demonstrated by the fact that the poverty rate in ethnic minority areas has decreased by more than 10% each year,” said Mr. Vu.
The 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Bac Tra My District in 2024 is an opportunity for the district to look back and listen to the opinions of the people representing their compatriots, thereby making further investments to develop the ethnic minority region.
In recent times, many ethnic minority households have strived to escape poverty and develop their household economy, but there are still some who are still waiting for investment from the State. This is a barrier to development, the reason why the poverty rate of ethnic minority households in the district is still high compared to the poverty rate of the whole Bac Tra My district.
Recognizing this limitation, Bac Tra My will have effective solutions to overcome it. In implementing investment, the locality prioritizes the implementation of public investment programs and projects in ethnic minority areas, areas frequently affected by natural disasters, storms and floods, and disadvantaged areas; and implements the work of population arrangement according to Resolution No. 23 of the Provincial People's Council.
The district has directed to promote planning and investment in building infrastructure for industrial clusters to call for and attract businesses to operate, focusing on businesses investing in processing agricultural products and medicinal herbs.
From there, it contributes to solving jobs for people, increasing income as well as solving output for agricultural products and medicinal herbs that are being strongly developed by people.
Prepare carefully
The 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Bac Tra My District in 2024 was chosen as a model congress of the province, so all preparations were carried out urgently and carefully by the locality.
Mr. Mai Duc - Head of Ethnic Affairs Department, Deputy Head of the District Congress Steering Committee informed that the contents serving the congress have been and are being urgently deployed.
Members of each subcommittee serving the congress are assigned specific tasks. This week, the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee will review and approve the draft political report after members of the Steering Committee have provided additional comments and edits to the draft.
In addition, sideline activities of the congress will also be carefully organized, such as the art and culinary program taking place on April 1 at the walking street, or organizing booths to introduce and promote OCOP products through booths...
Chairing the inspection of preparations for the model congress of Bac Tra My district on the morning of March 12, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Long - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, member of the Steering Committee for the Provincial Congress of Ethnic Minorities, assessed that Bac Tra My district had made very thoughtful preparations.
In particular, when the congress takes place, there will be many other related activities, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for the people of Bac Tra My district in general and the ethnic minorities in the district in particular.
Colonel Nguyen Thanh Long also requested the locality to step up propaganda activities about the congress, about the changes in the lives of ethnic minorities in the district, thereby seeing the importance and significance of the congress for the district at this time. The provincial steering committee will support all aspects for Bac Tra My district to successfully organize the model congress of the ethnic minority congress.
